About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Credit Risk & Approval Officer. This role is responsible for credit approvals in the Middle Market and Investor Real Estate businesses within the Commercial Banking organization. The Lead Credit Risk & Approval Officer will directly approve credits and review loan underwriting and portfolio performance for senior management. This officer will engage in periodic reviews and audits. This role will establish safeguards and support credit risk based limits and implement monitoring of the adherence to such risk based limits. This role will report directly to the MMB Senior Credit Officer.
In this role, you will:
Approve credit within delegated credit authority.
Recommend credit for approval in excess of their authority.
Ensure appropriate underwriting and surveillance of all credit products within the portfolio.
Understand credit themes and trends in the portfolio and pipeline, along with the impact of those themes and trends.
Demonstrate and sponsor appropriate risk management and leadership behaviors in support of doing what is right for the customer, people as a competitive advantage, ethics, and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Identify and escalate credit risk and control issues to senior risk management with transparency, in a timely manner and in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Implement the Risk Management Framework through promoting adoption of the Risk Operating Model, setting clear behavioral expectations for risk management, ensuring clearly defined roles and accountability, and promoting a sound control environment.
Oversee and actively manage credit risk and adherence to credit policy within the risk appetite approved by the Executive Operating Committee, and the Board.
Regularly present to senior management in Middle Market Banking, Risk and internal and external shareholders.
Promote a strong risk management culture and discipline throughout the relevant business segments.
Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals
Interact with internal and external customers
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Credit Risk & Approval or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
Desired Qualifications:
Prior Middle Market, Asset Based Lending & Leasing or Corporate Banking Credit Risk and Approval experience.
Prior Investor Real Estate underwriting and approval experience.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy skills.
Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment and to lead projects/initiatives with high risk and complexity.
Experience supporting senior level leaders/executives.
Ability to manage initiatives including detailed planning, process management, and documentation.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are important.
Advanced Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, LiveMeeting and SharePoint) skills.

This position currently offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring four in office days per week.

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$185,000.00 - $300,000.00Benefits
