About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Wholesale Operations Technology Director.

The Wholesale Operations Technology Director will serve as the technology leader for Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking (CB/CIB) and Wealth Investment Management (WIM) Operations Technology in India. This leader will partner with global Wholesale Operations Technology Executive in driving the technology strategy and roadmap for Wholesale Operations Technology.  This role reports into to the Head of Technology for Chief Operating Office in India and to Global Wholesale Operations Technology Executive.

The Technology Director will be responsible for the applications aligned in the Customer Service Management, Loan Services & Operations, Investment Management Services, and Trading Service Operations. This leader, in partnership with the WIM and CCIB Operations leadership team will help modernize the applications and platforms. The leader will work with technology partners to build or bring in solutions that help modernize existing and new applications using cloud, containers, API’s, digital etc.  As a senior strategic technology business partner, share ownership for both business strategy and business value results. The goal of modernization will align applications and solutions with the operations strategy within WFT framework. This person will be a technology evangelist who will bring in technology solutions to accelerate operations transformation and modernization while ensuring maximum ROI.


In this role, you will:

  • Developing and executing a multiyear technology strategy and solutions to support Wholesale Operations lines of businesses
  • Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads.
  • Manage a team of senior engineering managers
  • Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities.
  • Provide thought leadership both from a strategic and technical perspective for various initiatives within the group.
  • Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans
  • Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices.
  • Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third-party providers.
  • Identify financial management and strategic resourcing.
  • Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives.
  • Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent.
  • Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation.
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including more experienced managers.
  • Lead team to achieve objectives.
  • Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums
  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership
  • Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy.
  • Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders


Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 6+ years of Management experience


Desired Qualifications:

  • 10+ years’ experience leading large, global application development and implementation teams.  Experience coaching and mentoring managers, and individual contributors. Experience managing complex, diverse technology portfolios.
  • 5-10 years of technology leadership experience in Wholesale Banking and Multi-currency Banking Technology
  • Ability to effectively drive and lead change in an organization with Wells Fargo’s size, scale, and complexity.
  • Product and/or Technical Product leadership experience responsible for building a team, disciplines, and direct accountability for returning measurable value on labor investments.
  • Experience with Agile methodology of project delivery and product transformation, including but not limited to prioritization product scope, intake and discovery of new work and work in progress within the portfolio.
  • Lead roadmap development and strategy discussions for products and product line as well as articulating objectives and measurements for key results.  This includes customer experience and customer journey inputs.
  • Demonstrated experience in building, leading, developing, and retaining a high performing team of leaders, strong technical experts and high performing professionals in a cultural environment that achieves results through team member engagement and satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large portfolio of technology efforts across several major lines of business and effectively partner/influence at the senior executive level.
  • Ability to develop technology strategy, operating model & roadmaps with clear objectives and aligned with business, enterprise, and technology strategies.
  • Proven experience in establishing a vision, developing the strategy to support the vision, gaining consensus across key functional leadership through effective communication, and driving action towards the vision through the effective management of goals and objectives.
  • Broad experience across multiple areas of technology including one or more of architecture, infrastructure, and application development with strong understanding of leading edge as well as legacy and distributed technologies to effectively manage the complex and diverse applications portfolio.
  • Highly effective decision-making/critical thinking/problem solving skills with a collaborative and results oriented leadership style.
  • Demonstrated ability to consult with key business partners and translate complex, technical concepts so that they are clearly understood along with the ability to effectively partner and influence at the senior executive level.
  • Demonstrated experience motivating and influencing groups or individuals across organizational boundaries.
  • Experience building products or leading engineering functions operating at a global scale, and in a hybrid deployment model of cloud-native (e.g., GCP, Azure, AWS) and on-premises.
  • Proven track record influencing large technology transformations.
  • Must have solid understanding of current and future trends and practices in Technology.
  • Demonstrated experience motivating and influencing groups or individuals across organizational boundaries to gain trust and confidence to make timely decisions.
  • Experienced in strategic design and development for enterprise scale development organizations, driving speed, stability, and quality of delivery.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Agile development, Customer Engagement & Satisfaction, secure coding practices, Devops.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) with ability to communicate at multiple levels ranging from technologists to senior managers and executive leadership.
