About this Role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Head of Markets Portfolio Management (CIB Business Management Senior Manager) to serve as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the centralized Markets Portfolio Management function within Corporate & Investment Banking.

This role provides executive-level operational leadership to support a centralized portfolio management framework across Markets, with responsibility for underwriting discipline, independent review, risk assessment, and portfolio-wide analytics. The role will help establish a cohesive, scalable operating model that enables consistent standards, clear escalation, and alignment with the firm’s broader credit and risk governance framework.

The COO partners closely with senior business leaders, Risk, Credit, Compliance, Finance, and Technology to drive execution, enhance governance, and deliver transparency across portfolio management activities.

In this role, you will:

Portfolio Oversight & Governance

  • Support the execution of centralized portfolio oversight activities across Markets, including underwriting, independent review, and ongoing risk assessment
  • Drive consistency in portfolio management frameworks, standards, and escalation protocols
  • Partner with Risk, Credit, Compliance, and Legal to ensure alignment with enterprise credit and risk governance expectations
  • Facilitate governance forums and provide transparency into portfolio risks, performance, and emerging issues

Operating Model & Execution

  • Design and manage the operating model for Markets Portfolio Management, including governance routines, processes, and decision frameworks
  • Coordinate execution across portfolio teams, front office partners, and control functions to deliver timely and high-quality outputs
  • Maintain operational playbooks, process documentation, and execution standards
  • Track key priorities, dependencies, and delivery milestones across the portfolio function

Financial, Resource & Strategic Planning

  • Support budget planning, headcount management, and resource allocation for the portfolio management organization
  • Contribute to strategic planning efforts and alignment with Markets priorities
  • Help define organizational structure and coverage models to support scalability and efficiency

Portfolio Analytics & Reporting

  • Deliver insights and reports to senior Markets leadership
  • Partner with Finance, Technology and Data teams to enhance reporting capabilities and data transparency

Stakeholder & Executive Management

  • Serve as a key interface between Markets Portfolio Management and senior stakeholders across Lines of Business and control functions
  • Support executive communications, leadership reporting, and materials for governance forums
  • Drive alignment across stakeholders while maintaining independence of the portfolio management function

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of corporate & investment banking business management or leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in portfolio management, credit risk, underwriting, or related functions within Markets or Banking
  • Strong understanding of credit and risk governance frameworks and regulatory expectations
  • Proven ability to design and operate complex, cross-functional operating models
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale execution and transformation initiatives
  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to operate with sound judgment and independence in a dynamic, risk-focused environment
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong collaboration across business, risk, and control partners
  • Experience maintaining high standards of risk management and governance

Job Expectations:

  • Visa sponsorship is not available
  • 30% of travel

    Pay Range
     

    Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

    $185,000.00 - $300,000.00
