Lead Financial Accountant

About this Role:

This role sits within the WFBI Regulatory Reporting function and is critical to the delivery of the AnaCredit remediation programme, a key regulatory initiative with firm commitments to the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI).

The AnaCredit programme is focused on remediating historical data quality, reporting accuracy, and control weaknesses in line with European Central Bank (ECB) and Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) requirements. Given the complexity of the framework and the time-bound nature of regulatory commitments, this role plays a pivotal part in ensuring successful delivery, regulatory compliance, and sustainable operating model improvements.

The position requires deep subject matter expertise in AnaCredit reporting, strong analytical capabilities, and the ability to operate effectively within a complex, cross-functional regulatory environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead and support delivery of key remediation activities within the AnaCredit programme, ensuring alignment with commitments to the CBI and internal stakeholders.

  • Partner with stakeholders across Regulatory Reporting, Finance, Risk, and Technology to enhance AnaCredit reporting processes.

  • Interpret and apply complex AnaCredit regulatory requirements, ensuring accurate and compliant reporting outcomes.

  • Perform detailed data analysis and validation across large datasets to identify, investigate, and remediate data quality issues.

  • Support the integration of regulatory data pre-processing with strategic data sources to:

  • Improve data accuracy and consistency

  • Reduce manual adjustments and operational inefficiencies

  • Enable sustainable, scalable reporting processes

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of enhanced controls and governance over regulatory reporting outputs.

  • Provide subject matter expertise and thought leadership in relation to AnaCredit reporting and remediation strategy.

  • Support transition from remediation to business-as-usual operations, ensuring ongoing stability and compliance.

  • Deliver high-quality outputs under tight regulatory timelines, operating with a high degree of autonomy while maintaining strong stakeholder engagement.


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Finance, Accounting, Financial/Regulatory Reporting, Data Analytics, or Risk Reporting, demonstrated through work experience, training, or education.

  • Deep knowledge of AnaCredit reporting frameworks, including hands-on experience in remediation or regulatory delivery programmes.

  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting systems such as Axiom SL ControllerView (or similar platforms).

  • Understanding of broader EMEA regulatory reporting requirements and frameworks.

  • Experience in data transformation initiatives, system implementations, or regulatory change programmes.

  • Exposure to digital tooling strategies and automation solutions (e.g. Alteryx-based workflows).

  • Experience supporting assurance activities, including validation of regulatory outputs and control frameworks.

  • Proven experience in designing or operating data lineage / data traceability frameworks.

  • Experience within data governance and data issue management environments.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory and financial reporting frameworks across international regions (e.g. COREP, IFR, statistical reporting desirable).

  • Solid knowledge of the financial services industry, products, and reporting landscape.

  • Understanding of risk and control frameworks within regulatory reporting functions.

  • Experience working in an Agile (Scrum) delivery environment, with a track record of contributing to change initiatives.

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and data accuracy.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to senior stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence across functions to drive process improvement and change.

  • Self‑motivated, proactive, and able to operate effectively both independently and within a team environment.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
