About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Specialty Software Engineer in technology as part of Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology (CCIBT). This engineer will join the Books and Records technology team, where you will drive the design and evolution of the firm’s Records Retention platforms, ensuring best-in-class scalability, resiliency, and regulatory compliance. In this role, you will lead the development of frameworks that enable consistent capture, retention, retrieval, and disposition of records across multiple lines of business, supporting SEC and other regulatory requirements. You will architect and optimize the platform, balancing immutable storage needs (e.g., WORM) with scalable services for ingestion, metadata management, search, and audit capabilities, while overseeing integration with upstream Systems of Record (SORs) to ensure reliable data and metadata provisioning, completeness, and traceability across the records lifecycle. Additionally, you will embed controls and monitoring capabilities into the platform to support legal holds, exception management, audit readiness, and regulatory reporting, making this role central to maintaining compliance, managing risk, and ensuring overall platform integrity.

This role leads key initiatives across Records Retention domains, including data ingestion, metadata management, retention, and disposition, while ensuring platform monitoring to enhance efficiency and reduce risk. Responsibilities include designing, building, and optimizing applications that support the records lifecycle and audit requirements, as well as identifying opportunities to improve processes, resource utilization, and cost efficiency. The position requires resolving complex technical and production issues, driving compliance and risk initiatives in partnership with stakeholders, and collaborating closely with Product, Compliance, Legal, Technology, and platform teams to ensure system stability and scalability. Additionally, the role provides mentorship to team members and promotes strong engineering best practices across the organization.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex initiatives on selected domains
  • Ensure systems are monitored to increase operational efficiency and managed to mitigate risk
  • Define opportunities to maximize resource utilization and improve processes while reducing cost
  • Lead, design, develop, test and implement applications and system components, tools and utilities, models, simulation, and analytics to manage complex business functions using sophisticated technologies
  • Resolve coding, testing and escalated platform issues of a technically challenging nature
  • Lead team to ensure compliance and risk management requirements for supported area are met and work with other stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
  • Mentor less experienced software engineers
  • Collaborate and influence all levels of professionals including managers
  • Lead team to achieve objectives
  • Partner with production support and platform engineering teams effectively


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of experience with Java and Spring Boot
  • 5+ year of experience with DevOps such as CI/CD, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, Gradle, Jenkins and/or uDeploy
  • 5+ year of experience with Autosys or similar enterprise schedulers
  • 5+ year of testing experience including JUnit and automated testing practices


Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ year of strong experience working in Agile SDLC environments
  • Strong experience building scalable, resilient platforms for data/records lifecycle management in regulated environments
  • Hands-on experience with distributed technologies (Redis, Apache Ignite) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB), along with cloud and containerization platforms (AWS/Azure, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools and applying AI across the SDLC to improve engineering productivity and delivery
  • Experience integrating with upstream/downstream systems to ensure reliable data and metadata provisioning, traceability, and completeness
  • Solid understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements in Books & Records (e.g., auditability, immutability, legal holds)
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills, with the ability to mentor teams and influence cross-functional stakeholders

    Pay Range
     

    Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

    $191,000.00 - $305,000.00
