Capital Markets Middle Office Specialist - Collateral Management

The Collateral Management team supports the collateralization of derivatives, repurchase agreements (repo), forwards, TBA Agency MBS, and foreign exchange (FX) transactions. This global function, primarily based in Charlotte, serves nearly 50,000 clients across multiple product lines and legal entities. The team is responsible for the end-to-end collateral lifecycle, including daily margin call processing (approximately 900 calls per day), settlement, and front-to-back management. This role ensures accurate, timely execution and risk mitigation across a high-volume, complex client portfolio.

In this role, you will:

  • Compare trade position files from external counterparties in order to resolve margin call disputes in a timely fashion

  • Perform trade decompositions to validate current mark-to-market exposures

  • Review and process collateral margin calls and respond to the demands submitted by our counterparties

  • Work with internal departments (various Middle Office and Front Office teams, Documentation, Marketers, Legal, Credit) to resolve all discrepancies

  • Produce and distribute ad-hoc reporting requirements to clients and internal partners

  • Crosstrain future staff members to assist and independently perform daily Derivative Collateral Management margin responsibilities

  • Consistently seek opportunities to improve processes, controls, and procedures within the Collateral Management team

  • Partner with the project team to develop requirements for system enhancements and assist with user acceptance testing

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Capital Markets industry experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of derivative trading across asset classes (Interest Rate Swaps, Swaptions, Caps/Floors, Commodities, Cross-Currency, FX, and Equity)

  • Strong understanding of derivative products and trade mechanics, including payment/reset structures

  • Strong knowledge and ability to interpret executed International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) Master Agreements, including Credit Support Annex (CSA), MSFTA and GMRA documents

  • Understanding of Calypso, Imagine/Mercury, Opics, Endur, CDBO and other mainframe trading systems

  • Experience with Lombard Risk’s Colline Collateral Management platform is a plus

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills (Macros, V-Lookups, Tableau, etc.)

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced deadline driven environment

  • Effective organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of loan, securities, and derivative products

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy

  • FINRA Series 7/99 licenses preferred
