About this Role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Specialty Software Engineering Senior Manager to lead FICC (Fixed Income, Currencies, and Commodities) Strategic Trade Management Engineering. This leader will be responsible for defining and executing the technology strategy, architecture, delivery, and modernization of a front-to-back trade management platform supporting Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange (FX), and Commodities businesses. The platform encompasses user interface frameworks, workflow orchestration, event-driven processing, and scalable distributed services that support trade capture, order and execution workflows, trade lifecycle management, pricing, valuation, risk management, position management, confirmation, settlement, and regulatory reporting.

The successful candidate will drive the transformation of legacy and vendor-based trading platforms into modern cloud-native, API-driven, and microservices-based architectures while ensuring platform resiliency, scalability, security, and performance. This role will play a critical part in establishing strategic architecture patterns, data models, workflow standards, and integration frameworks across FICC asset classes and partner closely with Trading, Product, Operations, Risk, Finance, and Control organizations to deliver business-critical capabilities.

This leader will be responsible for building and developing high-performing engineering teams, driving engineering excellence, and ensuring alignment with Wells Fargo technology strategy, enterprise architecture, governance standards, and modernization initiatives. The role requires deep expertise in capital markets technology, trade processing platforms, distributed systems, application modernization, and large-scale transformation programs within complex financial services environments.

In this Role, You Will

  • Manage, coach, and develop engineering managers and senior software engineers responsible for delivering strategic trade management capabilities across front-office, middle-office, and operational workflows.
  • Drive engineering strategy and execution for trade capture, trade processing, lifecycle event management, workflow orchestration, pricing, risk integration, settlement processing, and regulatory reporting solutions.
  • Ensure alignment with Wells Fargo Architecture Standards while delivering highly available, scalable, secure, and resilient technology platforms that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Partner with architecture, infrastructure, platform engineering, and enterprise technology teams to advance cloud adoption, application modernization, API enablement, data strategy, and microservices transformation initiatives.
  • Serve as the senior technology leader for strategic trade management products and represent engineering organizations in cross-functional planning, governance, architecture reviews, and executive stakeholder discussions.
  • Lead the identification and resolution of critical technology challenges across software development, deployment automation, platform stability, operational resiliency, and production support functions.
  • Guide technology teams through complex software delivery initiatives while removing organizational impediments and fostering a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, continuous improvement, Agile delivery, and DevOps practices.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture reviews, design guidance, code quality oversight, engineering standards, and technology governance.
  • Drive security, scalability, availability, observability, and operational resilience across business-critical applications while proactively managing technology, operational, and enterprise risks.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Product Owners, Trading stakeholders, Operations, Risk, and Finance teams to define strategic priorities, shape product roadmaps, and deliver business value through innovative technology solutions.
  • Manage relationships with strategic vendors, software providers, and external technology partners supporting trade management platforms and services.
  • Oversee engineering budgets, workforce planning, resource allocation, and investment decisions to ensure successful execution of strategic objectives and business commitments.
  • Build and lead high-performing global engineering organizations, fostering talent development, succession planning, technical growth, performance management, and leadership development.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education.
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience leading software engineering teams in complex technology environments.

Desired Qualifications

  • Proven experience designing, building, and scaling enterprise trade management platforms supporting front-to-back trade processing within Capital Markets environments.
  • Deep expertise across FICC businesses, including Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange (FX), Rates, Credit, Commodities, and related trade lifecycle workflows.
  • Strong understanding of electronic trading platforms, trade capture systems, order management, execution management, pricing, valuation, position management, risk management, confirmation, settlement, and regulatory reporting.
  • Demonstrated success leading application modernization initiatives involving cloud-native architectures, microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, containerization, and API-led integration patterns.
  • Experience defining and executing application rationalization, platform consolidation, migration, and legacy retirement strategies supporting large-scale transformation programs.
  • Strong knowledge of downstream integrations supporting market risk, P&L, finance, accounting, collateral management, settlements, operations, data platforms, and regulatory reporting ecosystems.
  • Experience leading complex engineering organizations and global technology teams while driving agility, accountability, engineering excellence, and talent development.
  • Proven track record delivering highly scalable, resilient, low-latency, and business-critical platforms within Capital Markets and Financial Services organizations.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and executive presentation skills with the ability to influence senior business and technology leaders.

Job Expectations

  • Lead end-to-end engineering delivery for strategic trade management platforms spanning user experience, workflow orchestration, distributed services, and enterprise integration layers.
  • Define and execute modernization roadmaps that retire legacy applications, reduce technical debt, and accelerate adoption of cloud-native and API-enabled technologies.
  • Drive the design, development, and implementation of scalable, secure, low-latency, and highly available services supporting the complete trade lifecycle across FICC asset classes.
  • Establish consistent trade data models, workflow standards, integration frameworks, and service-oriented architectures that enable enterprise-wide interoperability and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure seamless integration with trading, risk, finance, operations, settlements, data, and regulatory reporting platforms.
  • Partner with Product, Trading, Operations, Risk, Compliance, and Control partners to translate business priorities into scalable technology solutions.
  • Lead architecture governance, engineering standards, platform resiliency initiatives, operational readiness, and production support best practices.
  • Build, mentor, and retain high-performing engineering teams while fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$185,000.00 - $300,000.00
