Lead Software Engineer – ServiceNow

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor

    Required Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

    Desired Qualifications:

    • 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow developer experience.
    • Extensive experience in collaborating with product owners, business analysts, and other stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions that align with business goals.
    • Ability to technically lead and drive best in class technology solutions
    • At least 5 years of ServiceNow technical experience across the following areas: custom application development, custom Integration using SOAP and REST, scripting in JavaScript, Jelly and HTML, Custom UI Pages, Business Rules, Workflows, Macros and Client Scripts, ServiceNow Version Upgrades etc.
    • Knowledge of IT Service Management & Operations, CMDB, Business Application Management.
    • Proficiency in ServiceNow Flow Designer, scripting (JavaScript), and REST/SOAP integrations.
    • Deep understanding of ServiceNow architecture, including tables, Glide APIs (GlideRecord, GlideForm, etc.).
    • Experience in building and managing ServiceNow reports and dashboards.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator or higher certification.
    • ServiceNow Certified Application Developer and Implementation Specialist.
    • Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into enterprise platforms.
    • Familiarity with Virtual Agent Designer and building conversational interfaces.
    • Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies and collaborative development environments


    Job Expectations:

    • Design, develop, and maintain ServiceNow applications and associated workflows using Flow Designer.
    • Automate service delivery processes by implementing and optimizing ServiceNow workflows.
    • Integrate Generative AI capabilities into ServiceNow to enable intelligent recommendations, summarizations, and enhance Virtual Agent interactions.
    • Collaborate with product owners, business analysts, and cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver scalable, user-centric solutions.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently and in a timely manner.
    • Stay current with ServiceNow platform updates and Gen AI advancements to continuously improve platform capabilities.
    • Deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that enhance user experience and streamline service delivery.
    • Actively contribute to innovation by leveraging Gen AI and conversational technologies.
    • Maintain documentation and follow best practices for ServiceNow development and integration.
    • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior developers when needed.
    • Lead complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments
    • Contribute to large scale planning of ServiceNow based solution strategies
    • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
    • Review complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures
    • Resolve complex issues and technically lead a team while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements
    • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals
    • Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff
    • Working in agile teams, you will develop, test and deliver work products in ServiceNow.

    • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, Architecture team
    • Showcase quest for continuous learning which part of the Developers KRA.
