Lead Software Engineer

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer Full stack developer to join our Consumer Technology (Credit Decisioning) team.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, with a strong focus on Java/Spring development
  • 5+ years strong experience with MongoDB development, including data modeling, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with Spring, Spring Batch, Spring Boot, Hibernate
  • 2+ years of experience S3/Dremio/Vault/EPLX
  • 3+ years of microservices development experience
  • 3+ years of experience working with Relationship Database Management Systems (RDBMS) such as SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL
  • 4+ years of experience with React
  • 4+ years of experience in Python
  • 4+ years of experience in Angular
  • 2+ years of experience working with Kafka (consumer/producer patterns, event-driven architecture, and reliable message processing)
  • 1+ years of strong experience with Redis, including caching strategies, data modeling, and performance tuning​
  • 2+ years of experience with PySpark
  • 2+ years of experience working in an Agile working environment
  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP)
  • 2+ years of experience developing or deploying AI‑powered tools, chatbots, LLM‑based automation, or agentic workflows, including understanding of AI risks, observability needs, and stakeholder communication
  • 2+ years of experience in Financial Industry
  • Experience deploying, managing, and supporting applications on OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) or similar platforms
  • Experience with GenAI stack including LangChain, LangGraph, and LangSmith for building agentic workflows, vector databases, React-based agents, multi-agent orchestration systems and Model Context Protocol (MCP)
  • Experience with Agile, CI/CD, DevOps concepts and SRE principles
  • Experience building and supporting production-grade, scalable systems with a strong focus on reliability, resiliency, and automation (SRE principles)
  • Experience implementing test automation and engineering best practices (unit testing, integration testing, CI/CD pipelines, and code quality standards)
  • Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, and incident response practices
  • Good understanding of microservices architecture (distributed systems, fault tolerance, and scalable service design)
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and willingness to work in a fast-paced, enterprise environment
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to solve complex technical problems
  • ​Experience building enterprise AI-enabled solutions, leveraging automation to improve system reliability and operational efficiency
  • Ability to deliver & engage with partners effectively in a multi-cultural environment by demonstrating co-ownership & accountability in a matrix structure
  • Ability to articulate technical solutions to both technical and business audiences
  • A BA/BS/BE degree or higher in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering
