Senior Software Engineering Manager - GenAI

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Senior Software Engineering Manager - GenAI to drive the evolution of our next-generation technology platforms. This is a high-impact leadership role offering the opportunity to lead multiple engineering teams, influence enterprise-wide architecture, and deliver innovative, secure, and scalable solutions powered by modern technologies.

As a key technical and people leader, you will play a critical role in advancing GenAI capabilities across the organization, driving adoption of cutting-edge solutions while ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture, risk, and regulatory standards. You will collaborate closely with product, architecture, and business stakeholders to translate strategic vision into impactful technology outcomes, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage, coach, and develop a team or teams of engineering managers and experienced engineers in specialized domain areas, in roles with moderate complexity and risk responsible for building high-quality capabilities with modern technology

  • Ensure adherence to the Banking Platform Architecture and meet non-functional requirements with each release

  • Partner with, engage, and influence architects and experienced engineers to incorporate Wells Fargo Technology strategies while enabling application migration paths to target architecture (e.g., cloud readiness, application modernization, data strategy)

  • Function as the technical representative for the product during cross-team collaboration and planning

  • Identify and drive resolution of technology roadblocks including code, build, and deployment while managing the overall software development lifecycle and security standards

  • Act as an escalation partner for scrum masters and teams to meet moderate to high-risk deliverables, removing impediments and promoting continuous learning and improvement

  • Build engineering capability through hands-on engagement in the codebase, conducting peer reviews to ensure quality and alignment with technical direction

  • Interpret, develop, and ensure security, stability, and scalability across technology functions while identifying and mitigating enterprise risk

  • Collaborate with and influence Product Managers and Product Owners to drive user satisfaction, align priorities, and shape the product roadmap through innovative solutions

  • Interact directly with third-party vendors and technology service providers

  • Manage allocation of people and financial resources to ensure commitments are met and aligned with strategic technology objectives

  • Hire, mentor, and develop engineering talent while fostering a culture of growth, accountability, and high performance

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Specialty Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience with Model Risk Management for GenAI

  • 1+ years of experience with LangGraph, LangChain, and Gemini

  • 1+ years of experience with Arize Phoenix

  • 1+ years of experience with evaluations using LLM-as-a-Judge frameworks

  • 1+ years of experience with GenAI performance testing

  • 3+ years of experience with API management and development

Job Expectations:

  • This position offers a hybrid work schedule

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$185,000.00 - $300,000.00
