About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, build, and optimize data-driven applications and reporting solutions using modern engineering practices, including Reports as Code, data engineering, and cloud-native development. This role operates within a global delivery model, partnering with U.S.-based teams to deliver scalable, secure, and high-quality solutions. The engineer will work at the intersection of software engineering, data engineering, and analytics, helping transform reporting into automated, code-driven, and insight-rich capabilities. The ideal candidate is a self-directed, high-impact individual contributor who demonstrates strong ownership, collaborates effectively across regions, and proactively identifies opportunities to improve people, processes, and technology. 


In this role, you will:

  • Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments

  • Contribute to large scale planning of strategies

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments

  • Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures

  • Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients' needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals

  • Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience developing data-driven applications, reporting platforms, or analytics solutions.

  • Strong experience in data engineering (ETL/ELT pipelines, data modeling, transformation).

  • Experience with Azure and/or OpenShift/Kubernetes-based platforms 

  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, or Node.js) 

  • Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases 

  • Hands-on experience with RBAC, authentication, or secure application design 

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices 

  • Experience working in a global delivery environment (U.S. and India collaboration) 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently 

  • Experience with data science, statistical analysis, or advanced analytics techniques 

  • Familiarity with Databricks, Spark, or big data platforms 

  • Experience integrating BI/reporting tools into engineering workflows 

  • Knowledge of event-driven architectures or real-time data processing 

  • Experience with observability tools (logging, monitoring, tracing) 

  • Experience working in financial services or regulated environments.

  • Operate as a Senior Individual Contributor (P3) delivering moderately complex solutions.

  • Demonstrate ownership and accountability for assigned deliverables 

  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and customers to ensure high-quality outcomes 

  • Apply sound judgment when balancing risk, performance, compliance, and customer needs 

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve engineering practices, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiency.

  • Design and implement Reports as Code solutions using version-controlled, testable, and automated pipelines 

  • Build and maintain data pipelines, transformations, and curated datasets to support reporting and analytics.

  • Develop cloud-native, containerized applications using Azure and/or OpenShift (AKS/Kubernetes) 

  • Integrate applications with enterprise relational and NoSQL databases, optimizing for performance and scalability 

  • Implement Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and secure access patterns aligned with enterprise standards 

  • Collaborate with customers and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver reporting and analytics solutions 

  • Apply data analysis and data science techniques to enhance reporting outcomes and insights 

  • Deliver end-to-end software solutions, including design, build, testing, deployment, and production support 

  • Apply SDLC best practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and code reviews 

  • Ensure security, reliability, performance, and compliance across systems 

  • Partner with global teams to deliver solutions aligned with enterprise standards and priorities 

  • Identify and drive improvements across engineering practices, tooling, and data quality
