Senior Software Engineer - Global Regulatory Reporting

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a high-impact technology team supporting critical initiatives within our Capital Markets and regulatory landscape. This is an opportunity to work on complex, business-critical systems where you’ll design and deliver scalable solutions that directly support trading, risk, and compliance functions. In this role, you’ll take ownership of key technical deliverables while contributing to broader strategic initiatives across the platform. You’ll work closely with business and technology stakeholders to solve challenging problems, influence design decisions, and help drive modern engineering practices including event-driven architectures, data governance, and cloud-native solutions. This is an ideal role for someone looking to deepen their technical expertise while making a tangible impact in a highly regulated, fast-paced financial environment.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments
  • Contribute to large scale planning of strategies
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
  • Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures
  • Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals
  • Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff
  • Implement strong data governance, lineage, and reconciliation controls to ensure accuracy and completeness of reported data


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in Software Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of capital markets products such as derivatives, securities financing transactions, equities, and fixed income.
  • Experience in regulatory reporting, risk, compliance, or audit-driven environments
  • Knowledge of non-financial regulatory domains
  • Familiarity with data governance tools and metadata management platforms
  • Experience with event-driven architectures or streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Flink)
  • Exposure to containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Strong understanding of controls, auditability, and regulatory expectations in large financial institutions
  • Ability to influence and collaborate across business and technology teams
  • Familiarity with responsible AI principles and understanding of how AI can augment software engineering
