About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Economist. As an Economist for the Wells Fargo Corporate Economics Group, the successful candidate will be responsible for researching, modeling, and forecasting economic conditions. The Economist will perform complex economic and statistical analysis and prepare reports and presentations for executives and senior level management. Specifically, the Economist would be expected to construct econometric models for forecasting purposes and draw inferences about alternative economic conditions in terms of their implication for output, inflation, interest rates, and asset prices. Expertise with economic models, data, and topics is required.
The Wells Fargo Corporate Economics Group is responsible for developing economic forecast scenarios that provide the basis for important financial planning and risk management activities within Wells Fargo and Company. The team’s scenarios drive loan loss, net interest income, and securities portfolio valuation changes for financial reporting and stress testing including CCAR/DFAST, CECL processes.
In this role, you will:
Compile, present, and analyze economic and financial data
Prioritize new developments in national and international economic trends
Implement statistical models for valuation and forecasting purposes
Work within team to evaluate and interpret highly complex economic conditions, trends, and forecasts
Produce highly complex economic scenarios for distribution to evaluate the impact of economic conditions
Required Qualifications:
2+ years of Economics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
Master's degree or higher in economic sub-fields closely related to macroeconomic modeling and economic forecasting
Experience utilizing analytical methods for statistical analysis, modeling, and forecasting
Proficiency with using Python and related software for model development
Proficiency with statistical software (i.e. EViews, R, Python, Stata etc.)
Experience with research, evaluation, and interpretation of highly complex economic conditions, trends, and forecasts
Ability to prepare and present updates on model validation, economic trends, and model output to stakeholders
