About this role

Wells Fargo is seeking a Technology Director – ICMP & IDOCS Infrastructure Engineering, Platform Reliability and Next Generation Foundation to provide strategic and operational leadership for the foundational infrastructure, platform engineering, security remediation, and reliability capabilities that power the Imaging Content Management Platform (ICMP) and Intelligent Document Services (IDOCS). This role is critical to ensuring the stability, scalability, security, and modernization of mission-critical ICMP and IDOCS platforms that support billions of enterprise documents and serve as foundational services for the firm's AI-enabled document processing and knowledge platforms.

The position is responsible for defining and executing the long-term infrastructure strategy supporting both ICMP and IDOCS, including next-generation datacenter migration, cloud and storage modernization, platform resiliency, cybersecurity remediation, vulnerability management, and operational excellence. As a senior technology leader, you will oversee the engineering foundation that enables all ICMP and IDOCS capabilities, including document ingestion, update, search, view, export, classification, extraction, validation, data pipelines, repository services, and AI-powered document intelligence. You will lead modernization of the infrastructure stack supporting ICMP and IDOCS, drive large-scale migration initiatives, and ensure the foundation of the platform can support future enterprise AI growth and adoption. This role will serve as a trusted advisor across Technology, Cyber Security, CTO, Storage, Infrastructure Engineering, and AI platform teams, ensuring operational reliability, regulatory compliance, and scalable platform architecture capable of supporting future enterprise needs. The leader will be accountable for establishing and operating the next-generation infrastructure foundation for both ICMP and IDOCS, ensuring long-term scalability, security, resiliency, and operational excellence.

In this role, you will focus on:

Infrastructure Strategy & Foundation Engineering

  • Define and execute the long-term infrastructure strategy for ICMP and IDOCS platforms, ensuring scalability, resilience, performance, and security
  • Lead the engineering roadmap for next-generation datacenter migration, cloud adoption, storage modernization, and infrastructure transformation
  • Establish the foundational platform architecture supporting all current and future ICMP and IDOCS capabilities as well as enterprise AI services
  • Drive infrastructure readiness, capacity planning, and strategic technology investments supporting enterprise growth and modernization initiatives
  • Partner with platform management, enterprise architecture, CTO, infrastructure, and storage organizations to define future-state platform standards and engineering practices

ICMP & IDOCS Platform Foundation Leadership

  • Own and lead all foundational infrastructure capabilities supporting ICMP and the IDOCS ecosystem, ensuring highly available, scalable, secure, and resilient platform services
  • Oversee infrastructure strategy, engineering execution, and modernization efforts supporting IDOCS migration to next-generation datacenter and cloud-aligned platforms
  • Establish the foundational platform architecture that enables document classification, extraction, validation, repository services, document intelligence, and AI-powered capabilities
  • Drive engineering excellence, operational stability, and long-term sustainability of ICMP and IDOCS infrastructure services
  • Ensure the platform foundation can scale to support growing enterprise adoption of AI-enabled document and content services

Infrastructure Reliability, Operations & Incident Leadership

  • Lead enterprise-wide initiatives to improve platform reliability, availability, scalability, and operational resiliency across ICMP and IDOCS environments
  • Direct coordinated response to high-priority incidents, infrastructure escalations, cybersecurity events, and enterprise risk situations requiring alignment across multiple organizations
  • Establish governance and best practices for production support, disaster recovery, business continuity, resiliency engineering, and operational excellence
  • Champion automation, observability, monitoring, and operational efficiency across infrastructure and platform engineering teams
  • Ensure mission-critical services consistently meet service-level objectives and enterprise reliability expectations

Security, Vulnerability Management & Risk Remediation

  • Lead enterprise infrastructure remediation programs focused on security vulnerabilities, secure engineering, platform hardening, and regulatory compliance
  • Partner closely with Cyber Security, Risk, Compliance, and Technology organizations to identify and mitigate operational and infrastructure risks
  • Drive proactive remediation of high-risk findings, secure coding concerns, and platform security exposures
  • Establish governance frameworks supporting risk reduction, compliance adherence, and operational excellence

Platform Modernization & Storage Transformation

  • Lead strategic initiatives involving datacenter migration, storage modernization, infrastructure automation, and platform transformation
  • Drive migration from legacy storage technologies to modern object-storage and cloud-aligned architectures supporting enterprise content platforms
  • Lead implementation of scalable and resilient platform services supporting long-term content retention and enterprise document management
  • Establish future-ready infrastructure patterns that reduce operational complexity while improving scalability, performance, and reliability

AI Platform Enablement & Enterprise Scalability

  • Partner with enterprise AI, platform engineering, and product teams to ensure infrastructure can support current and future AI workloads
  • Enable secure, scalable, and resilient foundational services supporting IDOCS and enterprise AI-enabled document intelligence capabilities
  • Support platform growth through infrastructure optimization, capacity planning, reliability engineering, and automation
  • Drive strategic improvements supporting AI scalability initiatives across Wells Fargo, including emerging AI services dependent on ICMP and IDOCS foundational capabilities

Leadership & Operating Model

  • Lead and develop high-performing infrastructure engineering, platform operations, and technology delivery teams
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence, accountability, innovation, security ownership, and continuous improvement
  • Build trusted partnerships across Technology, Cyber Security, Architecture, Storage, CTO, Risk, Compliance, and AI engineering organizations
  • Serve as a strategic leader driving foundational capabilities that enable ICMP, IDOCS, and enterprise AI platform success

 

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience
  • 1+ years of experience designing and delivering AI-enabled products or platforms at an enterprise scale, with a strong understanding of AI/ML concepts and their application in real-world intelligent document processing scenarios.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience leading software development teams in complex environments with a focus on delivering scalable, high-performance solutions.
  • Knowledge of Wells Fargo's internal systems and processes related to Wells Fargo’s enterprise AI development platform Tachyon and Enterprise Content Management (e.g., Imaging Content Management Platform - ICMP, Capture)
  • Deep expertise in technology leadership, enterprise automation, and software engineering, particularly in areas related to content management, intelligent document processing, or large-scale data platforms
  • Strong knowledge of AI/ML concepts, large language models (LLMs), and agentic AI orchestration frameworks, specifically as they apply to intelligent document services. Proven ability to communicate complex technical strategies to executive and senior stakeholders and drive large-scale initiatives in a highly regulated environment
  • Extensive experience with enterprise governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management in a financial services context, with direct experience in Model Risk Management (MRM) processes and controls
  • Demonstrated experience in product adoption, business integration, and solutioning with a proven track record of translating business needs into technology solutions and driving their successful implementation across multiple lines of business
  • Exceptional executive presence and senior executive-level presentation skills, with a proven track record of effectively communicating complex technical roadmaps and strategic visions to C-suite and senior leadership, influencing decisions and securing investment
  • Proven ability to inspire and lead teams in generating creative and innovative product concepts that align with strategic business objectives and leverage emerging technologies, particularly in the AI/ML domain, contributing to the future of ICMP and IDOCS
  • Extensive experience in creating, maintaining, and reviewing comprehensive architectural and technical documentation for large-scale enterprise platforms and AI-driven solutions, ensuring clarity and long-term stability
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Familiarity with responsible AI principles, strong governance practices, and operating effectively in regulated environments
  • Experience supporting large-scale transformation efforts and advancing operating model maturity across product organizations
  • Experience designing and delivering APIs that enable applications to securely and reliably deliver services through standardized, scalable interfaces, specifically using platforms like Apigee
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, or hybrid environments), container platforms (Docker, k3s), and infrastructure-as-code
  • High-level understanding of AI/ML implementations from a cybersecurity and risk perspective, including governance and control considerations
  • Experience with vector databases and/or graph databases for knowledge representation and retrieval
  • Familiarity with responsible AI principles, governance, and operating within regulated environments, including Model Risk Management (MRM) processes.
  • Strong financial and vendor management experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, multi-platform product portfolios in large matrixed organizations
  • Proven ability to partner and build trusted partnerships with Technology, Legal, Compliance, and other support partners
  • Proven ability to define product strategy, influence senior stakeholders, and lead through ambiguity
  • Strong customer experience, lifecycle management, and data‑driven decision‑making capabilities
