About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Risk Analytics Consultant.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex initiatives related to business analysis and modeling, including those that are cross functional, with broad impact, and act as key participant in data aggregation, monitoring, and reporting of stress testing and portfolio analysis for Risk Analytics
  • Review and analyze complex programing models to extract data and manipulate databases to provide statistical and financial modeling specific to businesses supported
  • Manage the roll out of pilot programs developed as a result of programmed models for supported businesses and product line
  • Make decisions in complex product strategies, data modeling, and risk exposure, requiring solid understanding of business unit projects and regulatory responses, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements that influence and lead Analytic and Reporting to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, less experienced to more experienced managers, to resolve production, project, and regulatory issues, and achieve risk analysts, and common modeling goals
  • Lead projects, teams, and mentor


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Risk Analytics experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in credit risk analytics, banking regulations, and portfolio risk management, with hands-on experience in loss forecasting and performance monitoring.
  • Advanced proficiency in SAS (including macros), SQL/Teradata, and data environments (Unix), with the ability to build scalable analytics, automate reporting, and support data-driven decision frameworks.
  • Proven experience in credit strategy development and lifecycle management, including strategy requirement analysis, rule set creation, and execution testing/validation (e.g., back-testing, champion–challenger frameworks).
  • Demonstrated strength in data deep dives and analytical problem-solving, including trend analysis, root-cause identification, and hypothesis-driven decision support.
  • Strong stakeholder management, project execution, and communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and clearly translate complex analytical insights into business actions.


Job Expectations:

  • Lead credit risk analytics and portfolio performance monitoring, delivering actionable insights to support strategic decision-making and risk optimization.
  • Drive end-to-end credit strategy lifecycle, including strategy requirement analysis, rule set creation, and policy design aligned with business objectives and risk appetite.
  • Execute and oversee strategy implementation testing and validation, including back-testing, champion–challenger analysis, and ongoing performance monitoring to ensure effectiveness and compliance.
  • Perform deep-dive analytics and root cause investigations to identify emerging risk trends, diagnose performance shifts, and recommend data-driven improvements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with business, risk, compliance, and technology teams to deliver complex initiatives, while mentoring junior analysts and driving process improvements through automation and standardization.
  • Develop and deliver monthly, quarterly, and annual risk reporting for senior leadership, including portfolio trends, population-level performance, strategy effectiveness, and forward-looking insights.
  • Build and enhance analytical models and programming solutions (e.g., SAS/SQL/Python) to extract, transform, and analyze large datasets for risk, financial, and statistical applications
  • Identify and implement process improvements through automation, standardization, and optimization of analytical workflows to enhance efficiency, scalability, and control effectiveness.
