This Middle Office role supports the Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities (RMBS) Pass-Through Sales & Trading business, providing operational oversight and trade support across the transaction lifecycle. Initial responsibilities include managing Fixed Income Clearing Corporation (FICC) activities and the Assignment of Trade (AOT) process, including Real-Time Trade Matching (RTTM), trade comparison, and netting functions.
In this role, you will:
Support the full lifecycle of the To-Be-Announced (TBA) Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS) market, with the opportunity to develop expertise in increasingly complex functions, including TBA allocations, position reconciliation, pair-offs, and trade settlement activities
Process and manage TBA and MBS pool transactions, including assignments, allocations, pair-offs, and netting activities, ensuring accuracy and timely execution
Reconcile trading positions across front-, middle-, and back-office platforms to ensure trade integrity and resolve discrepancies
Monitor and ensure timely trade settlement, investigating and resolving settlement exceptions, fails, and operational breaks
Utilize trading and operational platforms including Catalyst, MBS Expert, Broadridge/Impact, FICC, and other internal systems to support daily trade processing and operational workflows
Confirm trades across front-to-back systems and partner with internal teams to resolve trade discrepancies and operational issues
Collaborate closely with Sales & Trading, Operations, clients, and support partners to escalate issues, improve processes, and maintain efficient trade execution and settlement
Participate in risk management and control activities, including risk assessments, identification of control gaps, and implementation of process improvements and corrective actions
Analyze operational and trading data to identify exceptions, root causes, and opportunities for increased efficiency and risk reduction
Maintain a strong understanding of fixed-income products, mortgage-backed securities (MBS), and trade processing workflows to support daily business activities
Contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives, enhancing operational controls and supporting scalable business growth
Required Qualifications:
4+ years of Capital Markets industry experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
4+ years of Securities Operations experience
Knowledge and Understanding of the Fixed-Income markets, Trade Processing and Mortgage-Backed Securities
Experience with trade settlement, reconciliations, and operational support functions within a financial services environment preferred
Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, while supporting the operational demands of an RMBS Trading desk
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with Trading, Sales, Finance, Operations, and other key business partners to support trade execution, settlement, and issue resolution
Analyze complex issues and make timely, sound decisions, including the resolution of customer inquiries, trade exceptions, system-related challenges, and business unit escalations
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams; experience leveraging these tools for reporting, analysis, documentation, and collaboration is preferred
