Wells Fargo is seeking a Institutional Investment Operations Specialist


In this role, you will:

  • Participate in lifecycle support tasks for institutional trade initiatives and identify opportunity for process improvements
  • Assist leadership in bringing individual or teams together in order to resolve complex issues
  • Assist in client account onboarding, input and monitoring of cash payments, customer service, project support, funding operations, custodial operations, securities settlement services, structured loan operations, general ledger reconciliation, as well as, work to resolve confirmation and ISDA related issue
  • Provide subject matter expertise on projects along with internal and industry related initiatives
  • Review and analyze functional operational tasks that require research, evaluation, and exercise independent judgment to guide the deliverable
  • Present recommendations for resolving complex situations and exercise independent judgement while developing expertise on functions, projects, internal and industry related initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

Responsibilities

The suitable candidate will be responsible for overseeing the daily support of all trading activities related to the prime brokerage business. Candidate should be able to work in fast paced environment and one that is continually changing/developing. Candidate must be proactive in adapting workflow to accommodate needs of the business and must understand the importance of automation and the role it plays in keeping up with trade volume and scaling the business.  Candidate must also understand the importance of identifying control gaps and solving for them tactically and strategically.

  • Oversee Trade Date affirmations/confirmations across all prime products.
  • Oversee Daily T+1 trade/position/cash/market value reconciliations.
  • Oversee daily trade settlements/fails and fail resolution.
  • Oversee corporate action processing.
  • Oversee PB billing, commissions, and daily transfers of balances across prime brokers.
  • Mitigate operational risk by ensuring timely completion of recs and resolution of breaks.
  • Solidify relationships with multiple prime brokers/custodians. 
  • Coordination with various internal departments on trade issues (business, trading, technology, accounting, middle office, compliance, legal)
  • Produce and regularly update policies and procedures.
  • Focus on process enhancement and efficiency.  Identify process gaps and weak controls.
  • Monitor and process all incoming allocation files for WFPS clients. This includes the handling of trade processing exceptions (static data issues, rejects, broker issues, etc.), the processing of files to the correct WFPS custodian, and to the WFPS portfolio accounting system.
  • Responsible for establishing and balancing all position/balances on the WFPS portfolio accounting system for new WFPS custodian clients. This entails security static set up, position (at the tax lot level) creation, uploading historical transactions, and reconciling positions, cash and performance numbers against the clients’ previous custodian.
  • Post and reconcile all mandatory corporate actions into the WFPS portfolio accounting system on a daily basis.

Qualifications/Skills Required

  • Bachelors’ degree required.
  • 6+ years relevant experience in prime business operations / support.
  • Strong knowledge of financial instruments with emphasis on various securities instruments.
  • Working knowledge of fixed income/Equity/Listed Option/ cash and derivatives as well as futures and options will be an advantage.
  • Ability to implement and maintain new systems, procedures, and controls.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Geneva/Broadridge/Bloomberg/IMPACT/GLOSS experience will be an advantage.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Strong Knowledge in VBA, Excel, Access database
  • Strong analytical skills
