About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact

  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs

  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors

  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives

  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals

  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Software Engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in platform engineering, cloud technologies, or enterprise application architecture, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, or education.
  • Expert-level proficiency in .NET/C# and React, which are the primary essential technologies for this role.
  • Proven experience building enterprise-grade APIs, backend services, and front-end applications using .NET/C# and React in production environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure services (compute, networking, storage, managed services) and cloud-native application development.
  • Demonstrated expertise in containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture design.
  • Strong GitHub and CI/CD pipeline knowledge, including automated build, testing, quality gates, and deployment strategies.
  • Solid understanding of relational and NoSQL database technologies (for example, SQL Server, MongoDB, Cosmos DB).
  • Strong hands-on experience with messaging and streaming technologies, including Kafka and enterprise MQ platforms, plus asynchronous integration patterns.
  • Practical experience utilizing AI-assisted development tools and technologies (for example, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin, or equivalent) to expedite development processes, improve code quality, and accelerate delivery outcomes.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams, mentor engineers, and deliver complex projects from design through production support.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune for device management, configuration automation, and enterprise mobility management.
  • Deep knowledge of Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, and modern CI/CD frameworks for containerized workloads.
  • Experience designing and implementing distributed microservices and event-driven architectures.
  • Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep) for Azure automation.
  • Experience automating enterprise workflows using Azure Automation, Logic Apps, or similar platforms.
  • Experience integrating AI-enabled workflows into software delivery and platform operations.
  • Strong understanding of observability tools, production monitoring, resiliency engineering, and platform reliability practices.
  • Understanding of AI model governance, explainability, validation, security, and risk management in regulated environments.
  • Experience mentoring teams on modern development practices, AI-driven strategies, and engineering efficiency methods.
  • Prior experience leading cross-functional teams and contributing to enterprise architecture initiatives.

Job Expectations:

  • Serve as the technical authority for assigned platform products, cloud infrastructure initiatives, messaging integration patterns, and automation solutions.
  • Drive engineering excellence through architecture governance, coding standards, CI/CD maturity, messaging reliability, and operational resilience.
  • Lead adoption of AI-assisted development tools and modern engineering strategies across the team to improve speed, quality, and predictability.
  • Mentor senior and junior engineers while building high-performing teams focused on platform excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Influence strategic technology decisions across cloud platforms, .NET/C# and React application architecture, containerization, microservices, and event-driven systems.
  • Champion automation initiatives that reduce manual effort, streamline delivery, and improve business process efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, continuous learning, and responsible AI adoption.
