Engineering Associate – Enterprise Data Technology & Operations

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate – Enterprise Data Technology & Operations within the Chief Data Office (CDO). This role supports the technology platforms, data services, and engineering capabilities that enable trusted, secure, and well-governed data across the enterprise. The Chief Data Office is responsible for establishing and overseeing enterprise-wide data governance and strategy, including the management of data assets, data quality, metadata, analytics, and the technology platforms that power data-driven decision making.

In this role, you will assist with the development, enhancement, and support of enterprise data applications, cloud-based data platforms, data integration services, and automation solutions that enable the collection, movement, governance, and consumption of data across the organization. Working alongside software engineers, data engineers, architects, and data management professionals, you will help build scalable and reliable technology solutions that improve data quality, accessibility, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.

This position is ideal for early-career engineers who are passionate about software engineering, data technology, cloud platforms, and analytics. You will gain hands-on experience developing applications, APIs, data pipelines, and automation solutions while learning modern engineering practices, enterprise data management principles, and AI-enabled development techniques in a highly collaborative and innovative environment.

You will also participate in the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program. The CODE program is a two-year engineering development experience designed for individuals who are early in their technical careers. The program is intended for candidates with approximately 6 months to 2 years of hands-on engineering experience.

The CODE Program offers meaningful, real-world work combined with structured professional development, mentorship, and exposure to a broad range of technologies across the enterprise. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible for promotion and continued employment, subject to business needs and performance expectations.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop, test, debug, and maintain software applications, APIs, automation solutions, and data pipelines supporting enterprise data platforms and services

  • Collaborate with engineers, analysts, architects, and business partners to deliver technology solutions that improve data accessibility, quality, reliability, and operational efficiency

  • Support the development and maintenance of data integration and processing solutions that move, transform, and validate data across multiple systems

  • Assist in the implementation of enterprise data governance, metadata, and data quality capabilities through technology solutions and automation

  • Analyze application, platform, and data-related issues and work with team members to identify and implement solutions

  • Participate in software testing, code reviews, deployments, and production support activities to ensure high-quality and reliable solutions

  • Contribute to cloud-based and on-premises technology environments through development, monitoring, and operational support activities

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, process documentation, and knowledge articles to support operational excellence

  • Participate in Agile development practices, including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions

  • Apply secure coding standards, engineering best practices, and enterprise technology policies throughout the software development lifecycle

  • Use approved AI tools such as GitHub Copilot and M365 Copilot to improve productivity, code quality, documentation, and delivery outcomes

Required Qualifications:

6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 6+ months of experience through internships, co-ops, work experience, research projects, or academic projects developing software solutions using Python, Java, C#, or similar programming languages

  • 6+ months of experience writing SQL queries and working with relational databases to analyze, transform, or manage data

  • Demonstrated experience building, testing, debugging, or maintaining software applications, APIs, automation solutions, or data processing workflows

  • 6+ months of experience using Git, GitHub, or similar version control tools in a collaborative development environment

  • Demonstrated understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented programming, APIs, data structures, algorithms, and secure coding practices

  • Experience working with cloud technologies, data platforms, or distributed computing environments through coursework, certifications, internships, or professional experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of data engineering concepts, including data pipelines, ETL/ELT processing, data integration, and data quality management

  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, M365 Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar technologies to improve development productivity and software delivery

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and Word, managing email and calendars in Outlook, and building presentations in PowerPoint.

  • Experience communicating technical issues or access-related concerns across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in academic or professional settings.

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or related field preferred but not required.

Job Expectations:

  • The selected candidate for this role must be able to begin employment by October 25, 2026, in a full-time capacity.

  • This position is required to work from the designated posted office location and must be able to meet all expectations of the current hybrid work schedule, including regular in‑office attendance as defined by the team and program requirements.

  • Actively engage in the two-year CODE Program, including participation in training, mentorship, networking events, and career development activities.

  • Relocation assistance is not provided for this role.
