About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate to join our Equity Derivatives and QIS Structuring team. The role spans two complementary mandates: the design, structuring, and maintenance of Quantitative Investment Strategies (“QIS”) indices, and the structuring, pricing, and execution of equity-linked structured products. The successful candidate will leverage quantitative, programming, and product expertise to build investment solutions that address diverse client needs, working closely with Sales, Trading, and partner teams to support origination.

In this role, you will:

QIS Structuring

  • Research, develop, and evaluate new quantitative investment strategies and index solutions across linear and non-linear markets, leveraging derivatives, alternative data, and machine learning techniques.

  • Support the creation and integration of new indices in the QIS production environment, including testing systems, back-testing algorithms, preparing trade and activity approval memoranda, and presenting them in approval committees.

  • Build tools, using Python, to support QIS index design and contribute to the digitalization of the QIS platform in the Americas.

  • Partner with sales teams and clients to design customized QIS solutions for institutional and retail distribution channels, and identify new opportunities arising from market and client watch.

  • Prepare marketing and presentation materials and market updates, and engage with sales teams and clients to showcase capabilities and originate new business.

  • Monitor and analyze performance across the firm’s systematic strategy offerings, providing insights and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.

Equity Derivatives Structuring

  • Structure, price, and execute equity-linked structured products, including market-linked notes, certificates of deposit, and other derivative-based investment solutions.

  • Analyze derivative payoffs, risk-return profiles, funding economics, and hedging considerations associated with structured product offerings.

  • Generate and evaluate new product ideas, innovative payout structures, and strategic investment themes, informed by market developments, competitive trends, and client demand.

  • Partner with Sales and Trading teams to tailor structured product solutions to client objectives and prevailing market conditions.

  • Build and maintain pricing tools, analytics, and reporting infrastructure used across the structured products platform.

  • Support the product approval and launch process by coordinating with Origination & Execution, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Technology teams, and review offering documentation to ensure accuracy of product terms prior to launch.

Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Securities Sales Trading experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree (e.g., M.S.) in quantitative discipline, such as financial engineering, financial mathematics.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including quantitative finance and coding proficiency (Python).

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, work ethic, attention to detail, risk awareness, and team-oriented mentality.

  • Experience designing, launching, promoting, and maintaining QIS indices and/or pricing, and executing equity-linked structured products, including market-linked notes, certificates of deposit, and other derivative-based investment solutions.

  • Strong understanding of market structure and market behavior, with the ability to translate research insights into commercially relevant investment ideas.

  • Familiarity with equity volatility products, including variance swaps, dispersion, gamma, skew, and carry strategies.

  • Experience working across institutional and retail product distribution, including familiarity with insurance/FIA, ETF issuers, and other retail channels.

  • Strong understanding of product lifecycle management, including pricing, risk assessment, and performance monitoring, with the ability to work across sales, trading, quants, legal, and technology teams to bring products from concept through execution.

  • Autonomous, fast learner, and results driven, with a natural appetite for exploring new ideas.

Job Expectations:

  • Up to 10% travel.

  • Obtaining and/or maintaining appropriate Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) license(s) is required for ongoing employment in this position. FINRA Series 7 and 63 examinations, or equivalent must be completed within either a 90 or 180-day time period following commencement of employment, depending upon the number of license(s) needed if not immediately available to transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted. This will be communicated at time of offer acceptance. Compliance with state law registration and licensing requirements is mandatory. In addition to state registration and licensing requirements, specific product licenses or SAFE licensing may apply. Additional requirements include meeting enhanced financial fitness and criminal background standards. Wells Fargo will initiate the FINRA licensing review process at the time of offer acceptance. For specific FINRA qualification exams obtained after 9/30/2018, the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam co-requisite is required. 

  • This position is subject to Dodd-Frank Background Screening Requirements, including successful completion and clearing of a background screen. Applicants are subject to a new screen to comply with Title VII of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act which states that Associated Persons (AP) cannot be subject to statutory disqualification. Under industry regulations, an AP is defined as a team member who solicits or accepts client orders for swaps. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and are required to report certain incidents.

  • This position is subject to FINRA background screening requirements. Candidates must successfully complete and pass a background check prior to hire. In accordance with FINRA rules, individuals who are subject to statutory disqualification are not eligible to be associated with a FINRA-registered broker-dealer. Successful candidates must also meet and comply with ongoing regulatory obligations, which include periodic screening and mandatory reporting of certain incidents.

  • Specific compliance policies may apply regarding outside activities or personal investing; affected employees will be expected to provide information to the Wells Fargo Personal Account Dealing Team and abide by applicable policy requirements if hired. Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$143,000.00 - $224,000.00
