Head of Meetings, Trade Shows and Events

About this role:

Reporting to the Head of Communications, this position leads Wells Fargo's centralized meetings and events organization and oversees the company's Strategic Meetings Management Program (SMMP). The person in this role leads an organization of 70+ professionals through 8 direct reports and is accountable for event strategy, governance, risk management, supplier relationships, and service delivery across Wells Fargo's meetings and events. This leader partners with senior executives and business leaders to deliver high-quality experiences and measurable business outcomes. 

This position can sit in Charlotte, NC; Concord, CA; Irving, TX; Minneapolis, MN; San Francisco, CA or West Des Moines, IA and follows a hybrid work schedule.  The Wells Fargo job profile is Marketing Director.

In this role, you will:

  • Event Leadership: Lead the centralized meetings and events organization and oversee the Strategic Meetings Management Program (SMMP).
  • Experience Strategy: Develop meetings and event strategies that deliver impactful customer and employee experiences.
  • Organizational Transformation: Define the target-state organization and operating model and lead transformation through a comprehensive change management approach.
  • Technology Innovation: Identify and implement AI-enabled capabilities that enhance event effectiveness and drive operational efficiency at scale.
  • Business Alignment: Align meetings and events with business and marketing objectives while driving measurable business outcomes through executive and business leader partnerships.
  • Efficiency & Scale: Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and scale while maintaining quality across the organization.
  • Program Integration: Drive consistency and coordination across recognition programs, recruiting events, and trade shows.
  • Risk Management: Develop and implement policies, controls, and governance practices that manage reputational and operational risk.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Execute compliance requirements related to gift and entertainment policies.
  • Supplier Management: Oversee third-party relationships and supplier performance in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Portfolio Management: Manage event timelines, budgets, outcomes, and stakeholder communications while delivering against established business objectives.
  • Impact Measurement: Develop and implement measurement strategies that demonstrate business impact and event effectiveness.
  • Sponsorship Strategy: Partner with the sponsorship team to maximize the value of sponsorship and hospitality investments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Establish post-event review processes and incorporate lessons learned to improve future outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Marketing, Digital Marketing, Digital Platforms, or Social Media experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 9+ years of meeting and event planning experience
  • 4+ years of management or leadership experience

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience leading domestic and international corporate event portfolios within a Fortune 200 company, financial services organization, or hospitality environment.
  • Experience leading organizational transformation and change across functions.
  • Experience evaluating, implementing, and optimizing event management platforms and technologies, including AI-enabled capabilities, registration tools, and event analytics solutions.
  • Experience developing and executing event strategies that improve business outcomes and operational efficiency.
  • Experience sourcing, negotiating, and managing preferred suppliers, master service agreements, and third-party relationships.
  • Experience implementing risk controls, conducting audits, and driving corrective actions across complex event portfolios.
  • Experience managing complex event budgets, forecasting, financial controls, and portfolio reporting.
  • Experience leading large-scale event initiatives involving cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience evaluating risk and its potential impact on business operations and reputation.
  • Experience facilitating executive reviews, decision-making, issue resolution, and strategic program initiatives.
  • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or comparable industry designation.

Job Expectations:

  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.
  • Ability to work across multiple time zones and geographies.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
$185,000.00 - $300,000.00
