About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an International Technology Project Manager & Governance Lead to support technology governance, project delivery, and reporting activities across International Technology, including Europe, Asia, Canada & LatAm. The role will assist in the execution of the International governance operating model, helping to coordinate oversight of technology portfolios, regulatory commitments, strategic initiatives and delivery performance, while ensuring effective governance, risk management, transparency and timely reporting to support executive decision-making.
The role will combine project management and governance responsibilities, supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of technology initiatives across the International region. The individual will help manage project plans, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies and action tracking, while coordinating governance forums, preparing management reporting and ensuring stakeholders have clear visibility of delivery progress and key decisions.
The role will also support the adoption of AI and emerging technologies by assisting with governance activities, facilitating stakeholder engagement and helping to track and prioritise innovation initiatives. Working closely with regional business stakeholders, Enterprise CIO teams, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Data, Technology Risk and Control functions, the successful candidate will help ensure technology investments are delivered within established governance frameworks while balancing business priorities, regulatory requirements and risk management considerations.
This position provides an opportunity to develop broad exposure across International Technology, strengthening project management, governance, stakeholder management and technology delivery skills while contributing to strategic change and innovation initiatives across the organisation.
In this role, you will:
- Coordinate International Technology governance routines, setting governance standards, portfolio oversight disciplines, delivery controls and reporting expectations across a complex portfolio of strategic, regulatory and technology change initiatives.
- Drive the integrated portfolio view, including demand, prioritisation, investment governance, milestones, dependencies, capacity, financials, benefits, risks, issues and executive decision-making.
- Chair or coordinate senior governance forums, providing clear recommendations, executive insight, challenge, escalation paths and decision-quality management information to senior stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks, performance measures, portfolio health indicators and benefits-realisation processes that strengthen accountability, transparency and delivery confidence.
- Lead cross-functional resolution of critical dependencies, delivery blockers, governance gaps and control issues across Business, Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Data and Risk teams.
- Help define and drive the International Technology Innovation & AI agenda through governance forums and investment processes, ensuring innovation opportunities are aligned to strategic priorities, business outcomes and enterprise standards.
- Establish and govern innovation and AI operating processes, ensuring ideas progress through structured evaluation, prioritisation, proof of concept, pilot, governance approval and scaled implementation.
- Provide oversight of responsible AI adoption, ensuring use cases are aligned with applicable data governance, privacy, cybersecurity, model risk, legal, compliance and technology control requirements.
- Partner with subject matter experts to evaluate AI-enabled solutions, articulate value, assess feasibility and risk, and ensure appropriate governance and controls are embedded throughout implementation and adoption.
- Champion the use of automation, analytics and AI-enabled tooling to simplify governance and portfolio management processes, improve transparency and increase the quality and timeliness of management information and executive decision-making.
- Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by embedding innovation and AI opportunities within governance forums and encouraging the responsible adoption of emerging technologies.
- Coach programme and project leaders, promote consistent governance and delivery standards and foster a culture of accountability, innovation, experimentation and continuous improvement.
- Support regulatory, audit and control engagements by maintaining clear evidence of governance, challenge, decisions, risk management and remediation activity.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in Project Management and Methodologies, Strategic Planning, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, education
- Demonstrated success establishing governance frameworks, portfolio oversight disciplines, prioritisation processes, financial governance, dependency management, risk management and benefits realisation.
- Strong understanding of programme and project delivery methodologies, including agile, hybrid and traditional approaches.
- Experience defining governance operating models and influencing strategic investment, prioritisation and portfolio decision-making.
- Practical knowledge of AI, generative AI, automation and data-enabled transformation, including associated governance, risk and responsible-use considerations.
- Experience establishing governance and oversight processes that enable innovation while maintaining strong regulatory, risk and control standards.
- Proven ability to influence senior executives, facilitate complex decisions and communicate clear recommendations in ambiguous or high-pressure environments.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams across Business, Product, Technology, Data, Risk, Compliance and Control functions.
- Strong commercial and analytical capability, with experience assessing investment options, value cases, delivery feasibility and measurable outcomes.
- Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with a track record of producing concise, executive-level governance and portfolio reporting.
- Experience operating across international regions and navigating differing regulatory, legal and operational requirements.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in financial services, technology or another highly regulated industry.
- Recognised programme, portfolio, governance, agile or change-management qualification.
- Experience with AI governance, model risk, data governance, privacy, cybersecurity or responsible AI frameworks.
- Demonstrated delivery or governance of AI, automation or analytics use cases with measurable productivity, service, risk or control benefits.
- Experience designing governance forums, innovation councils, technology review boards, incubators, experimentation models or structured proof-of-concept pipelines.
- Working knowledge of Jira, portfolio-management platforms, Microsoft 365, Power BI and AI-enabled productivity tools.
- Experience preparing executive, regulatory and board-level governance materials.
- Ability to lead through influence, coach delivery professionals and build high-performing communities of practice.
