About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Software Engineer in technology as part of Commercial and Corporate & Investment Banking Technology (CCIBT).

The Lead Software Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and support of trade surveillance solutions built on the OneTick platform. This role partners closely with Compliance, Surveillance Operations, Business Analysts, and Data teams to deliver scalable, resilient surveillance capabilities across multiple asset classes. The position requires strong expertise in OneTick time‑series architecture, surveillance model configuration, market data processing, and financial products, along with advanced programming and data analysis skills.

The Surveillance Platform Engineering role leads the design and build of market surveillance solutions using the OneTick time series platform, delivering compliant, high‑performance alerts across asset classes including Rates, Credit, FX, SPG, and MPG. The role focuses on developing and tuning surveillance models for market abuse scenarios such as spoofing, front running, wash trading, and impactful order activity, while ensuring strong alert quality, validation, and performance. This position designs and supports end‑to‑end data ingestion pipelines for orders, executions, RFQs, market data, and reference data, integrating FIX, proprietary, and REST APIs across new trading venues using streaming and messaging technologies such as Solace MQ. The engineer partners closely with Compliance and Audit teams, performs deep data analysis for production issues and regulatory reviews, and delivers robust solutions in Java and Python within Unix/Linux environments, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to platform governance, migrations, and control enhancements.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
  • Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
  • Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
  • Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
  • Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally within trade surveillance, market data platforms, or financial services technology
  • 4+ years of experience with OneTick time‑series database and associated APIs
  • 5+ years of experience with Java and Python
  • 4+ years of experience with market data and order flow using FIX protocols and API‑based integrations
  • 3+ years of experience with trade surveillance models, alert behaviors, and regulatory use cases
  • 3+ years of experience with order lifecycles, including RFQs, executions, amendments, and cancellations
  • 3+ years of experience supporting multi‑asset trading environments across diverse products and venues

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a data‑driven approach.
  • Proven ability to work in a regulated, audit‑sensitive environment.
  • Effective communication skills and experience collaborating across business and technology teams.
  • Proven experience working within Unix/Linux environments, including scripting and production support
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful services
  • Familiarity with message‑based and streaming systems such as Solace MQ

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$143,000.00 - $224,000.00
