About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer.

In this role, you will

  • Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments

  • Contribute to large scale planning of strategies

  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments

  • Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures

  • Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals

  • Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of software engineering or automation experience, or equivalent demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, or education.
     

Desired Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience applying AI/ML or GenAI for automation, decision support, or operational efficiency
  • Experience with LLM-based solutions, including prompt engineering, RAG, or API-based integrations
  • Familiarity with agentic or orchestration frameworks for multi-step automation or tool-based execution
  • Experience with event-driven or messaging-based integrations
  • Familiarity with Wholesale Banking operations, including reconciliations, settlements, or exception processing
  • Awareness of AI governance, responsible AI, and enterprise security considerations
  • Experience modernizing or stabilizing legacy utilities or automation scripts

Job Expectations

  • Strong hands-on experience with .NET Core / C#/ Python, especially for utilities, services, and operational tooling
  • Hands-on experience developing front-end applications using React
  • Experience supporting or working with intelligent automation platforms such as Xceptor (or similar tools)
  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs and integrating systems
  • Ability to analyze requirements and independently identify automation opportunities, not just implement predefined solutions
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Harness)
  • Experience using AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of cloud environments (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable)
  • Experience working in an Agile or iterative delivery model
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
  • Comfortable working across multiple technologies and priorities in parallel
  • Support and enhance small to mid-sized .NET-based utilities and Python-based automation solutions used across Wholesale Operations
  • Design, develop, test, debug, and document lightweight, fit‑for‑purpose tools rather than large monolithic applications
  • Provide day-to-day support and enhancements for Xceptor or similar intelligent automation platforms (reconciliation, workflow, exception handling)
  • Partner closely with operations and product teams to understand requirements and proactively identify automation opportunities
  • Implement pragmatic automation, AI/ML, or GenAI solutions where they provide clear productivity, accuracy, or operational benefits
  • Contribute to automation and AI capabilities across the pipeline, including scripting, integrations, utilities, and workflow enhancements
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin) to improve development speed and code quality
  • Be flexible and adaptable, shifting priorities as operational needs evolve and responding to ad‑hoc automation or tooling requests
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in an Agile / delivery-focused environment
  • Participate in code reviews, follow enterprise engineering standards, and support production issues as needed
  • Mentor junior engineers on automation mindset, code quality, and problem-solving approaches
