About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer responsible for end-to-end technical architecture, design governance, and engineering leadership for cloud native platforms and performance testing capabilities.
This role defines target state architectures, drives technology strategy, and acts as the technical authority across different teams in the Line of business.
In this role, you will:
- Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
- Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
- Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
- Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
- Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
- Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- 15+ years of technology development and strategy experience in Full Stack development with hands on coding experience with .NET Core
- Should possess good knowledge of UI Framework like React / Angular
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python is added advantage
- Proven experience architecting and building AI–powered solutions, including LLM integration, prompt engineering, RAG patterns, model orchestration, AI pipelines, and responsible AI practices.
Strong understanding of GenAI trends, ecosystem evolution, and emerging capabilities, with the ability to assess vendor offerings versus build strategies.
- Experience embedding AI into core business workflows to drive productivity, risk reduction, customer experience, and operational efficiency.
- Passion for experimentation, rapid prototyping, and data‑driven decision‑making.
Should be strong at Web and WCF services
- Experience in Event driven architecture using Kafka Event Streaming
- Familiarity with REST API development and related tools (e.g. Postman, swagger)
- Build Unit Tests using XUnit and Automation Tests using Selenium, C#
- Strong JavaScript/Typescript and Advance JS proficiency and responsive design knowledge (HTML5, CSS3, SASS, Bootstrap)
- Experience working with Oracle or SQL Server databases with ability to write Medium/complex queries
- Hands on experience adopting and implementing engineering practices such as TDD, BDD, Developer lead functional automation, Automated deployment
- Experience integrating front-end with back-end services.
- Should have good knowledge of DevOps Processes and tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong work experience in Agile/Scrum methodology
- Ability to work independently with all stakeholders under minimal supervision
- should be flexible about work hours to provide better overlap with the US team
- Proven track record of leading large scale complex projects and influencing cross-functional teams.

- Define and execute the strategic vision for the CIB Lending portfolio,
- Provide technical expertise in building scalable, high performance and cost-efficient data solutions
- Stay ahead of industry trends and evaluate emerging technologies to recommend innovative solutions.

- Lead the development and optimize development practices and productivity.

- Act as a mentor to engineers, fostering technical growth and best practices
- Partner with product managers, analysts, and business stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, experimentation and innovation
- Drive cross-functional collaboration between design and engineering teams to streamline handoffs and timelines.
Operational Excellence
- Drive engineering excellence, including CI/CD practices, automation, and monitoring.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and ensure platform reliability
- Ensure compliance with data privacy and security regulations.
- Track and report progress on design readiness and iteration improvements, ensuring measurable outcomes within the first quarter
