About this role:
We are seeking a Platform Support Technology Director to support the growing and strategically important Equity Prime Finance business. This highly visible, business-facing leadership role is accountable for driving production stability, SRE maturity, and service excellence for mission‑critical platforms serving Equity Finance trading, funding, and collateral operations.
The role will manage a team of 5–10 SRE and production engineering professionals, partnering closely with senior technology and business leaders to deliver next‑generation platform reliability, support models, data center migration readiness, and improved observability and monitoring capabilities.
In this role, you will:
Manage a team of engineering managers and engineering leads
Focus on delivering commitments aligned to enterprise strategic priorities
Build support for strategies with business and technology leaders
Serve as the primary production technology leader for Equity Prime Finance
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 5–10 production engineers/SREs, ensuring skills growth, operational rigor, and high performance
Drive true SRE practices, including automation, observability, SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, root-cause reduction, and reliability engineering
Guide development of actionable roadmaps and plans
Identify opportunities and strategies for continuous improvement of software engineering practices
Provide oversight to software craftsmanship, security, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions developed by the teams or third-party providers
Identify financial management and strategic resourcing
Set risk management guidelines and partner with stakeholders to implement key risk initiatives
Develop strategies for hiring engineering talent
Lead implementation of projects and encourage engineering innovation
Interface with external agencies, regulatory bodies or industry forums
Own production readiness, deployment governance, and operational support standards
Build strong partnerships with trading desks, operations, and developers to align support priorities with business outcomes
Manage allocation of people and financial resources for Technology Strategic Leadership
Develop and guide a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy
Required Qualifications:
10+ years of Technology Strategic Leadership experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
4+ years of management or leadership experience
7+ years of hands-on production support and SRE engineering experience, including monitoring instrumentation, production deployments, incident management, and problem management
8+ years total in Production Support, SRE, or Production Engineering roles
5+ years of leadership experience managing teams of 5–10 engineers in high‑availability trading or market‑facing environments
8+ years of equity finance, trading, prime brokerage, or similar capital markets workflows
Desired Qualifications:
Ability to drive critical incidents to full closure with strong communication and structured follow-up
Experience supporting Equity Prime Finance production workflows, including trade capture, financing lifecycle, and collateral management
Understanding of securities lending, margin, and client financing support models within Equity Prime Finance
Familiarity with front-to-back production flows, including trade breaks, settlement dependencies, and intraday funding processes
Experience applying SRE frameworks such as SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, automation, and post‑incident reviews
Background in data center migrations, infrastructure modernization, or cloud‑aligned operating models
Hands-on experience with observability platforms such as Geneos, Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or Elastic
Strong governance and reporting skills, including stability metrics, KPIs, and executive MIS
Ability to influence cross-functional teams and strengthen production ownership
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage directly with senior business and technology stakeholders
Job Expectations:
Ability to work in a fast-paced, business-facing, front-office support environment
Participate in rotational on-call support for high-severity issues
Lead high-severity incident calls and provide clear communications to stakeholders
Support major releases, migrations, and stability initiatives with production oversight
Occasional evening/weekend work during critical events or releases
Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days per week: onsite presence required per Wells Fargo hybrid guidelines

Pay Range
Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.
