About this role:

The Technology Risk Domain Officer operates within Technology Risk Management (TRM), part of Corporate Risk, providing independent second‑line oversight across technology domains. The role is part of the Technology Risk Domain Team, which performs domain‑level evaluation and produces evidence‑based views of how technology conditions contribute to enterprise risk exposure. The role engages with Technology, including Tech Operations, CIO organizations, to provide challenge and inform risk‑based decisions. Outputs from this role support enterprise risk views provided to senior management, risk committees, and regulators.

The Technology Risk Domain Officer (P5) serves as the senior second line oversight lead across assigned technology domains. The role is responsible for setting direction for domain-level risk assessment and monitoring approaches, identifying and assessing plausible failure modes, and evaluating how those failures contribute to enterprise technology risk exposure. The role provides independent, evidence-based challenge and acts as a strategic thought partner to senior technology and risk leadership, influencing prioritization, decision-making, and risk outcomes across the enterprise.

In this role you will:

  • Technology Risk Strategy and Direction – Define and evolve domain-level risk assessment approaches, monitoring routines, and analytical frameworks aligned to enterprise risk exposure definitions.
  • Domain Oversight Coverage – Lead second line oversight across assigned domains, maintaining a current understanding of how technology operates in practice and how risk manifests under real conditions.
  • Failure Mode Identification and Assessment – Identify, assess, and anticipate plausible and emerging failure modes, including evaluating enterprise impact across domains.
  • Evidence-Based Analysis – Apply observable evidence signals including incidents, service levels, backlog, exceptions, and trends to support risk conclusions and explain residual risk.
  • Stakeholder Influence and Decision Support – Advise senior technology leaders on risk tradeoffs, prioritization, and mitigation strategies, influencing outcomes through credible, data-driven insight and challenge.
  • Cross-Domain and Enterprise Risk Insight – Aggregate domain-level observations into technology risk themes, identifying dependencies, concentration risk, and systemic patterns.
  • Risk Reporting and Communication – Deliver clear, concise, and decision-ready risk perspectives to senior management and governance forums, linking domain conditions to enterprise risk exposure.
  • Continuous Monitoring – Maintain a forward-looking view of domain conditions, emerging risks, and changes in technology and operating models.
  • Change and Transformation Oversight – Engage in material technology changes, programs, and initiatives to assess risk implications and operational readiness.
  • Leadership and Talent Development – Develop domain expertise across the team, coach domain officers and analysts, and set expectations for quality, consistency, and risk judgment.
