About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer
In this role, you will:
- Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments
- Contribute to large scale planning of strategies
- Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
- Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures
- Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements
- Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals
- Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff
Desired Qualifications:
- Approximately 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering or application development
- Experience working with Java, Kafka, Python programming languages or frameworks relevant to the team’s technology stack
- Demonstrated interest in applying AI‑assisted development practices to improve productivity and code quality
- Exposure to AI‑powered engineering tools (e.g., code assistants, test generation tools, documentation helpers, or internal AI platforms)
- Good understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC) and Agile delivery practices
- Familiarity with AI and source control tools and standard development workflows
- Exposure to deployment, upgrade, or environment support activities
- Foundational knowledge of databases, APIs, or system integrations
- Awareness of security, risk, data privacy, and compliance expectations, including responsible use of AI tools
- Ability to troubleshoot straightforward technical issues using documentation, AI‑assisted insights, and team guidance
- Willingness to continuously learn emerging technologies, including AI capabilities relevant to the technology domain
- Clear communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members and internal partners
Job Expectations:
- Participate in low‑complexity to moderately complex technology initiatives, including development, upgrades, and deployments
- Design, code, test, debug, and document solutions with guidance from senior team members, leveraging approved AI tools where appropriate
- Apply an AI‑first mindset by using AI tools to assist with code generation, reviews, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation while adhering to enterprise guidelines
- Follow established engineering standards, patterns, and best practices, including responsible AI and data usage policies
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve service quality, stability, availability, and developer efficiency
- Investigate and resolve common technical issues, using both traditional debugging techniques and AI‑assisted analysis, escalating when needed to meet SLAs
- Apply prescribed security, compliance, and risk controls in development and support activities, including proper handling of sensitive data when using AI tools
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions as an active contributor and learner
- Build foundational understanding of the assigned technology domain, business context, and AI use cases within the organization
- Communicate status, questions, and issues clearly to technology peers and stakeholders
- Demonstrate steady growth in technical skills, confidence, and responsible AI usage
