Principal Architect - Enterprise CI/CD & DevSecOps

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Architect to lead architecture initiatives within the Chief Development Experience Office (CDXO). This role is responsible for defining target-state architectures, technical standards, design patterns, and reference architectures that enable modern software delivery across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Enterprise CI/CD and DevSecOps platforms, including software delivery automation, software supply chain security, and automated quality assurance practices, complemented by experience across developer enablement, API management, quality engineering, and software delivery governance. Working closely with product management, platform engineering, security, infrastructure, and application development teams, this individual will drive architectural direction for enterprise engineering platforms and help shape a modern, scalable, and secure developer experience.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead architecture initiatives for Enterprise CI/CD capabilities spanning source code management, software composition analysis, code quality scanning, automated testing, artifact management, continuous integration, deployment automation, and infrastructure automation platforms.
  • Define and evolve the target-state architecture for modern software delivery toolchains including GitHub, Harness, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Black Duck, Artifactory, and related DevSecOps capabilities.
  • Partner with product owners and engineering leaders to define technology roadmaps and architecture strategies that improve developer productivity, software quality, delivery speed, and operational resilience.
  • Establish enterprise architecture standards, design patterns, and governance processes to ensure secure, scalable, resilient, and supportable platform solutions.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and vendor offerings to guide strategic technology decisions and platform modernization initiatives.
  • Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance to engineering teams, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture principles and software delivery best practices.
  • Mentor architects and senior engineers, promoting architectural consistency, engineering excellence, and reuse across the enterprise.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 7+ years of architecture experience supporting enterprise software delivery platforms, CI/CD ecosystems, DevOps platforms, or developer enablement platforms
  • 5+ years of experience architecting and implementing solutions using GitHub Enterprise, Harness, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Black Duck, Artifactory, or equivalent software delivery platforms
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud-native platforms and Infrastructure as Code technologies including Kubernetes, OpenShift, Terraform, Ansible, GitOps, or similar automation frameworks

Desired Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working within highly regulated industries such as Financial Services, Banking, Healthcare, Insurance, or Government organizations
  • 3+ years of experience supporting Internal Developer Platforms (IDP), API management platforms, quality engineering, or test automation capabilities
  • Experience leading architecture for large-scale Enterprise CI/CD transformation, platform modernization, or DevSecOps adoption initiatives
  • Experience with GitHub Enterprise, Harness, SonarQube, Checkmarx, Black Duck, Artifactory, and software supply chain security capabilities
  • Experience with Internal Developer Platforms (IDP), API management and integration platforms, Quality engineering and test automation, Infrastructure as code such as Terraform, Ansible, GitOps or cloud-native automation frameworks
  • Industry certifications in cloud platforms, DevOps, DevSecOps, architecture, or related technology disciplines
  • Experience working within large, complex, highly regulated organizations with strong focus on risk management, governance, and compliance
