EFT Platform Services, Cloud and Infrastructure Principal Engineer

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Cloud and Infrastructure Principal Engineer to lead complex cloud modernization and platform engineering initiatives from strategy through execution. The Cloud Enablement team, within the Cloud and Infrastructure Engineering organization, accelerates cloud adoption across the EFT portfolio by providing expert consulting, solution design, engineering support, and reusable enablement assets. The team designs, builds, and optimizes cloud infrastructure while developing tools, training, documentation, and best practices that empower developers to build, deploy, and operate cloud-native applications with confidence. Through standardization, automation, and knowledge sharing, the team strengthens a “you build it, you run it” operating model and helps reduce friction for application teams.

This role provides deep expertise in public cloud, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and automation across the EFT portfolio and serves as a key engineering position driving modernization, innovation, and operational excellence. Principal Engineers guide cloud adoption by advising on architecture, reusable solution patterns, cross-functional process alignment, and automation strategy. They translate complex initiatives into actionable engineering work, mentor contractors and junior team members, and enable scalable delivery through strong technical leadership and practical execution.

This role is ideal for a hands-on engineering leader who understands infrastructure complexity and is motivated to remove barriers through scalable automation, practical solutions, and a developer-focused approach.


In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • 3 years of platform engineering experience on either/or GCP, Azure, AWS
  • 3 years designing, deploying, and supporting scale application on Kubernetes
  • 3 years designing, coding and supporting cloud infrastructure with Terraform
  • 1 year designing and coding Ansible roles
  • 5 years integrating container and cloud workflows with CICD
  • Experience with TFE, Github, Harness
  • Experience with Podman/Docker, OpenShift, AKS, EKS, GKS
  • Experience with VM Linux and Windows virtualization
  • Any related certification is desirable
  • Apply your technical subject matter expertise to guide EFT applications through their modernization journey
  • Lead key work streams to resolve specific challenges as and when they arise
  • Contribute thought leadership and vertical technical SME within the EFT PE Platform Services community of practice
  • Craft stories for platform engineers implementing work stream solutions
