Business Overview: 

The Business Risk Control and Regulatory Oversight Early Talent program encompasses two unique pathways to learn and gain meaningful work experience while growing your expertise.  Those two pathways are Control Management and Regulatory & Policy Affairs. At Wells Fargo, we are committed to a strong business-control infrastructure to protect the business and provide positive client experience.

  • Control Management (CM) is a financial industry function that collaborates with and influences front-line business groups and functions through assessment and mitigation of operational risk across Wells Fargo. Program participants can work within Control Management to support one of the 15 Wells Fargo business divisions. Participants select rotations to engage in a variety of experiences to build a personal career path. 

  • Regulatory and Policy Affairs (RAPA) is responsible for Wells Fargo Regulatory Relations, the Enterprise ​Policy Office, Non-Financial Regulatory Reporting Governance, and the Office of Consumer Practices. The team focuses on ensuring an integrated and holistic approach to Wells Fargo’s regulatory, policy and governance activities and ensuring communication and coordination of engagements across multiple stakeholders​​.

Program Overview 

The summer internship program is a professional development program providing participants with a 10-week overview of Wells Fargo and a high-level understanding of the company's operations, business strategies, and corporate culture. The internship experience includes relationship building, relevant work assignments, coaching, performance feedback sessions, and informative learning sessions with key leaders. 

It is designed to provide undergraduate students with an experiential overview of the applicable team under business risk control and regulatory oversight functions and how they support mitigating risk through data analytics, reporting, collaboration, consulting, or creating efficiencies. The program incorporates real-world scenarios and experiences to help prepare you for a rewarding career at Wells Fargo. 

The competitive internship program targets exceptional juniors and is a pipeline program where successful interns may receive an offer to return the following year to join the full-time Analyst Program. #earlycareers 

Program Date: Summer 2027. 40-hour work week. Daily working hours based on business needs. 

Program Locations*: 

  • Charlotte, NC (CM, RAPA) 

  • Dallas, TX (CM) 

*Locations subject to change and contingent on business needs  

In this role, you will: 

  • Participate in formal internship program and workshop initiatives 

  • Review various assignments to become familiar with policies and procedures for which answers can be quickly obtained, related to low-to-medium risk tasks and deliverables 

  • Receive direction from managers in a matrixed environment and exercise independent judgment while developing understanding of compliance and risk management requirements for the supported area 

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals 

Some of the open positions would benefit from candidates with one or more of the following professional skills or certifications: 

  • Data analytics, including experience in SQL, Power BI, JIRA, SharePoint, and/or Tableau 

  • Experience in Agile methodology 

  • SIE Certifications 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 6+ months of work experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education 

Desired Qualifications:  

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in the following majors: Business Administration, Accounting, Analytics & Data, Business Intelligence, Communication, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Government, Management and Risk Management, Mathematics, Physics, Political Science, Policy & Management, Pre-law, Statistics, Technology, or related business field with an expected graduation of December 2027 – June 2028 

  • Involvement in extracurricular enrichment activities through one or more of the following: volunteerism, student organization involvement, study abroad program(s), leadership position(s), non-profit involvement 

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills​ 

  • Proven ability to prioritize work, take personal accountability, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment ​ 

  • Familiarity with AI‑powered productivity tools (such as chat‑based assistants and built‑in features like Microsoft Copilot) to support everyday tasks including research, organizing information, and creating presentations with a strong interest in learning and using these tools responsibly.  

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to use data insights, learn quickly, adapt to change, and support innovative solutions.  

  • Ability to execute with urgency, support business reporting and project management, drive operational excellence, and adapt effectively to change with an enterprise mindset.  

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to foster an inclusive environment and actively seek and apply feedback.  

  • Business acumen and business analysis skills, with a strong service orientation and the ability to support solutions that drive client and business impact.  

  • Ability to act with integrity, identify and manage operational risks, and apply regulatory compliance principles to support well-controlled operations.  

Job Expectations  

  • Ability to travel 5% or more of the time.
