Vice President, Lead Commercial Loan Closing Specialist

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Vice President, Lead Commercial Loan Closing Specialist (Closing Coordinator) to support our Real Estate Banking (REB), REIT Finance Group (RFG) and Specialty Real Estate Finance (SREF) teams in our Commercial Real Estate (CRE) division. The Lead Closing Coordinator will collaborate with all parties involved to ensure loans are closed accurately and in accordance with CRE closing requirements.

This requisition represents multiple VP Closing Coordinator opportunities across the Transaction Management and Closing team. supporting various hiring managers. While the core responsibilities are consistent across roles, individual positions may differ based on commercial real estate loan (i.e., bilateral and syndicated lending). Candidates will be evaluated for the best fit across available openings.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead a variety of pre-close activities for large, moderately complex to complex bilateral and syndicated commercial real estate loans, including coordinating aspects of loan closings, such as client onboarding, flood and insurance due diligence and background investigations.

  • Accurately evaluate and facilitate the upload of data into the systems of record to ensure compliance with all bank policies, procedures and regulatory requirements

  • Work collaboratively with our loan team, borrowers, outside counsel and third-party vendors, as applicable, to obtain due diligence items and documentation necessary to ensure accuracy with negotiated terms and ensure alignment with appropriate compliance standards

  • Coordinate with our internal flood team to satisfy applicable laws and internal procedures related to the Flood Disaster Protection Act (FDPA)

  • Handle a high volume of closings with accuracy and timeliness. Prioritize effectively and adapt to changing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Serve as an escalation point in the resolution of closing related issues

  • Perform quality secondary reviews of loan booking and associated money movement documentation as part of the implementation of closing controls to ensure compliance with both internal policies and external regulatory requirements.

  • Identify activities of the team to ensure conformity with established procedures

  • Strategically collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and mid-level to senior managers to resolve issues and achieve goals, may lead projects, teams or serve as a peer mentor

  • Make decisions in complex and multi-faceted situations requiring solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures and compliance requirements that influence and lead broader work teams to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives

  • Interact with internal customers

  • Receive direction from leaders and exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Commercial Real Estate Portfolio Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years’ experience in closing commercial real estate loans or equivalent experience

  • 5+years’ experience of commercial real estate syndicated and bilateral lending.

  • Experience with nCino, commercial lending technologies, and loan documentation, leveraging systems and tools to support efficient loan closing operations and seamless client experience.

  • Proven ability to lead process improvement initiatives and serve as a change agent, driving operational efficiencies, technology adoption, and continuous improvement in a dynamic environment.

  • Strong partnership and communication skills with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, legal counsel, business partners, and third-party vendors.

  • Demonstrated adaptability and agility, with the ability to navigate change, pivot quickly, and effectively manage evolving business priorities.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities and complex transactions with strong analytical skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively and build trusted partnerships across all levels of the organization
