About this Role
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Information Security Engineer to join the DLP Data Integration and Automation Team within Cybersecurity Defense. This role is responsible for designing, developing, and automating data protection controls that ensure sensitive information is appropriately identified, classified, and protected across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate will possess strong experience in Data Loss Prevention (DLP), cybersecurity engineering, Python and Bash scripting, data integration, and enterprise security automation. This individual will lead efforts to onboard and maintain critical data sources—including HR, customer, financial, and regulatory data—into DLP platforms to support data protection and regulatory compliance objectives.
In This Role, You Will
- Lead the design, implementation, and support of highly complex Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and data protection solutions.
- Develop automation solutions using Python, Bash/Shell scripting, and other scripting languages to streamline DLP data onboarding, validation, and operational processes.
- Design and maintain automated workflows that prepare, transform, and integrate sensitive data sources for enterprise DLP platforms.
- Ensure DLP systems are receiving accurate and current data feeds, including HR, customer, PII, and other sensitive data classifications.
- Provide cybersecurity consulting and technical guidance to business and technology partners to ensure compliance with enterprise security policies and standards.
- Design, document, test, implement, and support security solutions across network, endpoint, cloud, application, and data protection domains.
- Perform root-cause analysis, technical troubleshooting, and resolution of complex security and integration issues.
- Conduct security risk assessments and recommend remediation strategies for identified vulnerabilities.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, perform proof-of-concept testing, and develop implementation plans for enterprise deployment.
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, application teams, infrastructure partners, and security stakeholders across the organization.
- Lead, mentor, and provide technical direction to junior engineers and other team members.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, operational efficiency, and security effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of Information Security Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience troubleshooting in complex technical environments
- 4+ years of experience supporting data transmission solutions (i.e. email messaging, web proxy, firewall, etc.) in a large enterprise
- 4+ years of experience leading and directing the activities of technical staff
- 2+ years of experience with DLP and other Data Protection solutions
- 1+ year of experience with SQL queries
- 1+ year of experience with API scripting
- 1+ year of experience building/managing MS SQL and/or Oracle databases, including data feeds and ETL
- Experience with application support in Linux and Windows server environments
- Experience with scripting tools such as bash, python, powershell, etc.
- Experience performing technical product assessments, including development of implementation plans, in a large enterprise
- Experience securing cloud data storage or transmission solutions
- Experience mentoring/guiding less experienced staff
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Advanced critical thinking, problem solving and technical troubleshooting abilities
- Security certifications such as CISSP, GIAC or equivalent
Job Expectations
- Ability to work a hybrid schedule – 3 days per week on-site/in office and 2 days per week remote
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation
