Wells Fargo is seeking a Merchant Services Senior Sales Manager to lead a high-performing sales organization for Commercial Banking. The Merchant Services organization provides innovative payment acceptance solutions to businesses of all sizes, including payment processing, gateway services, fraud management, and invoice presentment. In this strategic leadership role, you will be responsible for leading and developing a sales team while partnering closely with key stakeholders across Product, Credit, Service, Risk, Technology, and Distribution. You will play a critical role in driving business growth by strengthening existing client relationships, supporting new customer acquisition efforts, and executing sales strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
This position requires frequent engagement with senior banking leaders across the Commercial Bank, including Treasury Management. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted partner, identifying opportunities to expand merchant services adoption and deliver comprehensive payment solutions that meet clients' evolving needs.
In this role, you will:
- Lead the Merchant Services Sales organization supporting Commercial Banking segments, including full P&L accountability and sound business decision-making aligned to strategic objectives.
- Deliver sales, revenue growth, portfolio expansion, and client retention goals through disciplined business management routines, effective pipeline oversight, and strong relationship management.
- Influence and collaborate with banking partners, key stakeholders, and cross-functional Merchant Services teams to drive business results, strengthen partnerships, and achieve shared growth objectives.
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Merchant Services Sales Consultants operating in a dynamic environment with moderate complexity and risk.
- Execute talent strategies that support business growth, including proactive recruiting, succession planning, and ongoing professional development to enhance industry and vertical market expertise across the sales organization.
- Identify and champion opportunities to improve processes, optimize sales effectiveness, and enhance service delivery standards to drive operational excellence.
- Develop and implement strategies to address complex client, partner, and business challenges while balancing risk, customer experience, and growth objectives.
- Manage the effective allocation of human and financial resources to maximize team performance, productivity, and business outcomes.
- Build and sustain high-performing teams through exceptional hiring, coaching, mentoring, performance management, and employee engagement practices.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, accountability, collaboration, and talent development that supports long-term business strategy and organizational success.
- Partner with Product, Risk, Credit, Technology, Operations, and Treasury Management leaders to drive adoption of Merchant Services solutions and deepen client relationships across Wells Fargo's Commercial Banking businesses.
- Serve as a senior business leader and trusted advisor, identifying market opportunities, accelerating new client acquisition, and expanding existing client relationships to drive sustainable growth.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Merchant Services Sales experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 3+ years of management or leadership experience
Desired Qualifications:
- Significant experience supporting middle market, commercial banking, and corporate banking clients, with strong prospecting, sales, relationship management, and negotiation skills.
- Proven success leading teams through transformational change and delivering results in decentralized, geographically dispersed environments.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate, present, and influence effectively across all organizational levels, including senior leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships, facilitate high-impact discussions, navigate complex challenges, manage conflict, and drive mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Experience leveraging data, analytics, and reporting tools to inform business decisions, measure performance, and solve complex business problems.
- Knowledge of operational risk management principles and experience balancing risk considerations with business objectives.
- Exceptional ability to translate complex concepts into clear, compelling messages that educate, influence, and drive understanding among diverse stakeholders.
- Proven track record of developing, motivating, and leading high-performing teams while fostering collaboration, accountability, and a strong client-focused culture.
