About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer in technology as part of the Wealth & Investment Management Technology team. This individual will lead architecture, engineering, and modernization efforts across the Account Opening & Maintenance (AOM) Portfolio. This role is responsible for driving technology strategy, architecture, and engineering execution for a portfolio of critical applications supporting client onboarding, account opening, account maintenance, KYC/CDD compliance, client servicing, workflow automation, and digital integration experiences.

The Principal Engineer will provides strategic vision, technical direction, and architectural oversight for the Account Opening & Maintenance portfolio across Wealth and Investment Management. The individual will partner with business, product, and engineering leaders to modernize critical platforms through cloud-native architectures, API and event-driven solutions, AI/GenAI innovation, and automation. They will drive scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions that support onboarding, compliance, servicing, and advisor experiences while establishing engineering standards, best practices, and modernization roadmaps. Additionally, this role will mentor technical teams, lead complex integrations and production issue resolution, and champion engineering excellence through DevSecOps, CI/CD, and platform engineering practices.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groups
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinking
  • Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutions
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutions
  • Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organization
  • Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • 3+ Years of Java experience
  • 3+ years of React experience
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud-native architectures, container platforms, Kubernetes, OpenShift
  • 5+ years of experience in database design and data architecture, including relational and NoSQL technologies
  • 3+ years of experience leading CI/CD, DevSecOps, infrastructure automation, and release engineering initiatives
  • 2+ years of experience implementing Generative AI, AI-powered automation, Agentic AI, or intelligent workflow solutions within enterprise environments

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with software delivery automation using tools such as GitHub Actions, Harness, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Ansible, Playwright, or equivalent technologies
  • 3+ years of experience with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Kafka, MQ, or similar technologies
  • Experience with document intelligence, OCR, intelligent document processing, and workflow automation

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$159,000.00 - $305,000.00
