Lead Business Accountability Specialist - Consumer Banking & Lending (CBL) CAO Risk Governance, Strategy & Enablement Team

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Business Accountability Specialist to join the Consumer Banking & Lending (CBL) CAO Risk Governance, Strategy & Enablement Team. This highly visible role provides a unique opportunity to influence governance strategy, drive enterprise-wide initiatives, deliver enablement solution and partner across multiple Consumer Banking & Lending products and functions.

The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to business leaders, enterprise partners, control functions, and enterprise stakeholders. This individual will identify governance enablement opportunities, drive optimization efforts, and lead complex programs that strengthen risk management while enabling business objectives.

This role requires a leader who can think strategically, influence across organizational boundaries, and execute effectively in a fast-paced, highly matrixed environment.

  • Lead large-scale initiatives focused on process and control optimization, process improvement, and operational effectiveness with Automation and AI top of Mind.
  • Drive change through influence and execution including aligning stakeholders around a shared vision, translating complex ideas into plain language, navigate organizational complexity and competing priorities, build ownership and momentum across teams and establish clean plans, accountability and execution pathways.
  • Lead transformation efforts including leadership skills to diagnose business challenges, re-design processes, build and manage use cases, understand low-cost technology solutions, measure value, utilize AI for analysis, discovery and workflow streamlining.
  • Evaluate end-to-end third-party operating models and contracts and identify opportunities to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve scalability.
  • Lead process redesign initiatives that simplify third-party engagement, contracting, monitoring, and reporting activities.
  • Experience in managing financial plans and budgets and analyzing opportunities to calculate value propositions with process redesign and automation and tool usage.
  • Develop data-driven recommendations that optimize supplier utilization while balancing business, risk, and operational requirements.
  • Build business cases that quantify financial benefits, implementation costs, and expected return on investment.
  • Influence and support key enterprise initiatives, ensuring alignment with governance and enterprise expectations.
  • Develop executive-level communications, presentations, and recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Drive accountability and sustainable outcomes across enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Lead complex initiatives with broad impact which are designed to mitigate current and emerging business risk issues and concerns; act as key participant in large-scale, cross-functional planning for the business
  • Assess, analyze, and design complex and multi-faceted controls, protocols, and approaches with respect to risk mitigation and the control environment, including ensuring effective planning for sustainability, ongoing control adherence, reporting, measurement, technology impacts, and monitoring
  • Make decisions in complex and multifaceted situations requiring solid understanding of business’s functional area or products, operations, and regulatory environment; facilitate decision-making and issue resolution, and support implementation of developed solutions and plans; influence and lead key business partners to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid to senior-level managers to identify current and emerging risks associated with business activities and operations, and provide guidance in interpreting, developing, and implementing risk-mitigating strategies
  • Act as liaison for the business with external parties to support timeliness, appropriate response strategy, and effectiveness of communications and materials
  • May lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of risk management, business controls, quality assurance, business operations, compliance, or process experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following:  work experience, training, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience leading large-scale governance, risk, control, compliance, operational excellence, or business transformation initiatives.
  • Strong program and project leadership skills with the ability to execute across a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders at multiple levels, including senior and executive leadership.
  • Ability to think beyond immediate challenges and develop scalable automated / AI, long-term solutions.
  • Experience identifying and implementing process improvements and control optimization opportunities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive results in a dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of enterprise control frameworks, operational risk management, and regulatory expectations.
  • Experience leading enterprise-wide initiatives that span multiple business groups and support functions.
  • Proven track record of balancing business enablement with strong governance and risk management practices.
