About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Market Risk Officer for the Structuring and Controls team within the Corporate Market Risk Group (CMRG). This lead role will focus primarily on providing independent risk oversight and transaction execution support for Wells Fargo ABS desks across new issuance securitization transactions, including CMBS, RMBS, CLO, Consumer ABS, and Commercial ABS.

The Lead Market Risk Officer will serve as a senior on the team, providing independent modeling, offering document review, issue identification, and risk-based challenge across complex securitization structures


In this role, you will:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert across asset types, cash flow structures, securitization transaction mechanics, and evolving market trends

  • Lead independent capital structure cash flow modeling and offering document reviews, including assessment of collateral characteristics, performance triggers and events, stress scenarios, security cash flows, and risk/return analytics

  • Provide review and challenge of offering documents for proper and adequate disclosure of deal terms, structuring provisions, modeling assumptions, priority of payments, and risk/return results

  • Exercise independent judgment and professional skepticism to identify, escalate, and resolve potential issues throughout the transaction lifecycle

  • Partner with structuring, deal management, legal, compliance, and risk stakeholders to support execution of complex transactions while maintaining appropriate independent risk oversight


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: trading, desk analyst, Capital Markets, market risk, interest rate risk or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of structed products issuance (ABS, CMBS, RMBS, CLO)

  • Master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or related field

  • 5+ years of experience in structed products issuance, underwriting, servicing, transaction execution, or independent risk review, with hands-on expertise in ABS modeling and deal management

  • Prior experience in accounting firms or rating agencies with direct engagement with ABS professionals and legal teams

  • Advanced analytical skills; proficient with Excel VBA and Intex Dealmaker, hands-on experience with other coding languages a plus

  • Skilled in interpreting legal documents including offering memorandums, indentures, and private placement memorandums

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional engagement with structuring, deal management, legal, compliance, and risk partners

  • Effective multitasker with a track record of meeting deadlines on time-sensitive tasks

  • Experience in collateral negotiations, compliance reviews, and risk assessments

  • Background in credit underwriting and analysis

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear senior-level risk analysis, influence stakeholders, and document conclusions with strong attention to detail
