About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Systems Operations Engineer


In this role, you will:

  • Lead or participate in managing all installed systems and infrastructure within the Systems Operations functional area
  • Contribute in increasing system efficiencies and lowering the human intervention time on related tasks
  • Review and analyze moderately complex operational support systems, application software, and system management tools to ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Work with vendors and other technical personnel for problem resolution
  • Lead team to meet technical deliverables while leveraging solid understanding of technical process controls or standards
  • Collaborate with vendors and other technical personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Middleware Engineer / Platform Engineer to support a mission-critical Linux-based middleware platform.
  • This role provides senior-level engineering and operational ownership of Oracle Coherence, Amps and Tomcat application platforms running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment. The engineer will ensure platform reliability, security, performance, and scalability while driving best practices in automation, CI/CD, and disaster recovery
  • 7+ years of experience in systems and application production support within enterprise environments.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with Linux/UNIX systems, scripting, and operational automation (Bash, PowerShell, or Python).
  • Experience supporting containerized platforms using Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift, including Helm‑based deployments.
  • Experience with application modernization and CI/CD pipelines in production and non‑production environments.
  • Experience supporting distributed systems (e.g., Oracle Coherence, Amps and Tomcat).
  • Familiarity with managed Kubernetes platforms (EKS, AKS, or GKE).
  • Hands‑on experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, ELK, Grafana, or Prometheus.
  • Experience supporting large‑scale, enterprise production environments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across teams and with leadership at all organizational levels.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience supporting capital markets or financial services applications.
  • Hands‑on experience running and scaling containerized workloads in production environments.
  • Solid understanding of DevOps principles and operational best practices.
  • Hands‑on experience troubleshooting performance issues, including caching and data flow problems, using tools like SAR, PerfMon, and tcpdump.
  • Experience improving operations through automation using Linux scripting and workflow tools.
  • Able to create and maintain technical documentation and reports using tools such as VS code, Word, Excel, Confluence, and monitoring/log platforms.
  • Comfortable working with and guiding cross‑functional teams to improve system reliability and operational readiness.

Job Expectations:

  • Provide L2 production support for mission‑critical applications and platform services in a regulated banking environment.
  • Handle production incidents, outages, and escalations with complete ownership, from triage and impact analysis through RCA.
  • Support deployments, application restarts, and configuration changes across production and non‑production environments.
  • Manage and support containerized platforms such as OpenShift and Kubernetes, leveraging orchestration and automation tools.
  • Perform hands‑on troubleshooting and drive operational efficiency through scripting and automation.
  • Ensure platform security and compliance by managing certificates, vulnerability remediation, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Review and analyze operational support systems, applications, and system management tools to ensure high availability and reliability of systems and infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with vendors and other technical personnel to resolve technical issues and achieve highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Develop deep understanding of trading, risk, and caching/computing platforms, and contribute to their build, enhancement, and ongoing support.
  • Troubleshoot complex system, application, and infrastructure issues, and providing guidance to application teams.
  • Provide technical consulting and mentorship to junior engineers, promoting best practices and operational excellence.
  • Analyze, define, and document system and application requirements, including workflows, processes, interfaces, and technical controls, using standard methodologies.
  • Implement and support solutions aligned with enterprise technology standards and operational frameworks.
  • Evaluate and advise on emerging technologies, contributing to platform integration strategies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Willingness to work in rotational shifts (6:30 AM–3:30 PM or 10:30 AM–7:30 PM) and provide weekend support on a rotational basis.
