About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate within Chief Operating Office (COO) Technology. COO Technology provides technology services that support critical enterprise functions including operations, control management, strategic execution, business continuity and resiliency, data solutions, customer experience, regulatory relations, and enterprise shared services. This organization delivers and manages application portfolios and technology solutions that drive modernization, optimize processes, and enhance operational efficiency across the company.
In this role, you will contribute to the development, testing, and support of technology solutions that enable these business functions. You will work in a collaborative, agile environment alongside product, infrastructure, security, and data teams to support scalable, secure, and resilient systems.
This position is ideal for early-career engineers who are interested in building foundational experience in enterprise technology, data platforms, and modern engineering practices. You will gain hands-on experience working with programming languages such as Python, cloud-based technologies, and AI-assisted tools while supporting real-world business and operational systems in a highly regulated environment.
You will also participate in the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program. The CODE program is a two-year engineering development experience designed for individuals who are early in their technical careers. The program is intended for candidates with approximately 6 months to 2 years of hands-on engineering experience.
The CODE Program offers meaningful, real-world work combined with structured professional development, mentorship, and exposure to a broad range of technologies across the enterprise. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible for promotion and continued employment, subject to business needs and performance expectations.

In this role, you will:
Develop, test, and support applications and services using programming languages such as Python, Java, or other object-oriented languages, applying foundational knowledge of data structures and algorithms
Support data processing and engineering activities, including working with SQL, ETL/ELT pipelines, and distributed data frameworks to enable data-driven solutions
Contribute to building and enhancing web-based applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular) and integrating them with backend services
Work with cloud platforms and container-based technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, container orchestration tools) to support scalable and resilient application deployments
Apply systems design and testing principles to support development, debugging, and validation of application functionality
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, infrastructure, security, and data teams to deliver solutions aligned with enterprise standards
Use AI-enabled tools and techniques (e.g., prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and developer copilots) to improve productivity and support solution development
Analyze problems, identify patterns, and implement solutions that improve performance, reliability, and operational efficiency
Support security, privacy, and risk requirements by adhering to enterprise policies and contributing to secure design and development practices
Communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders and contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing
Required Qualifications:
6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
6+ months of hands-on programming experience, including Python, Java, or other object-oriented languages, with understanding of data structures, algorithms, and basic systems design
6+ months of experience with data processing and engineering concepts, including SQL, ETL/ELT pipelines, and exposure to large-scale or distributed data processing frameworks (e.g., Spark)
6+ months of hands-on experience developing web applications, including JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular and integrating front-end and backend systems
Practical experience applying software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices, including coding, testing, debugging, and working in Agile environments using tools such as Jira
Experience using AI-enabled tools and concepts, including developer copilots, prompt engineering, or exposure to generative AI use cases (e.g., RAG concepts)
Experience with data engineering and data processing, including SQL, ETL/ELT workflows, and exposure to large-scale or distributed data concepts (e.g., Spark or similar frameworks)
Experience working with cloud platforms and container-based technologies, including exposure to cloud environments and tools such as Kubernetes or Docker for deploying or supporting applications
Foundational understanding of security, privacy, and risk principles, including exposure to secure development practices or enterprise governance concepts
Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (product, infrastructure, security, data)
Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and continuous learning mindset, with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and tools
Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and Word, managing email and calendars in Outlook, and building presentations in PowerPoint.
Experience communicating technical issues or access-related concerns across technical and non-technical teams.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in academic or professional settings.
Bachelor’s in computer science or related field preferred but not required.
Job Expectations:
The selected candidate for this role must be able to begin employment by July 12, 2026, in a full‑time capacity.
This position is required to work from the designated posted office location and must be able to meet all expectations of the current hybrid work schedule, including regular in‑office attendance as defined by the team and program requirements.
Actively engage in the two-year CODE Program, including participation in training, mentorship, networking events, and career development activities.
Relocation assistance is not provided for this role.
