Engineering Associate – Generative AI Solutions

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate within Chief Operating Office (COO) Technology. COO Technology provides technology services that support critical enterprise functions including operations, control management, strategic execution, business continuity and resiliency, data solutions, customer experience, regulatory relations, and enterprise shared services. This organization delivers and manages application portfolios and technology solutions that drive modernization, optimize processes, and enhance operational efficiency across the company.

In this role, you will contribute to building and supporting applications that improve how information is organized, accessed, and delivered across the enterprise. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to support the development of user-friendly platforms and intelligent tools, including chat-based experiences, that help streamline workflows and improve access to key guidance and resources.

This position is ideal for early-career professionals interested in application development, data accessibility, and emerging technologies such as chatbots and AI-assisted tools. You will gain hands-on experience supporting enterprise applications, working with data, and contributing to solutions that enhance operational efficiency and user experience in a highly regulated environment.

You will also participate in the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program. The CODE program is a two-year engineering development experience designed for individuals who are early in their technical careers. The program is intended for candidates with approximately 6 months to 2 years of hands-on engineering experience.

The CODE Program offers meaningful, real-world work combined with structured professional development, mentorship, and exposure to a broad range of technologies across the enterprise. Upon successful completion of the program, participants are eligible for promotion and continued employment, subject to business needs and performance expectations.

In this role, you will:

  • Support the development and enhancement of internal applications that improve access to enterprise information and resources

  • Assist in building and maintaining user-facing tools, including chat-based interfaces and intelligent workflows, to enhance employee experience

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and business teams to gather and refine requirements for application features and improvements

  • Participate in testing activities, including creating test cases, executing tests, and validating application functionality

  • Analyze data and system outputs to support application performance improvements and user experience enhancements

  • Assist in troubleshooting application issues and support defect identification, tracking, and resolution

  • Contribute to integrating data and content into applications to ensure accurate, timely, and accessible information delivery

  • Support release and deployment processes, including documentation and validation activities

  • Apply secure coding practices and support compliance with enterprise risk, security, and governance standards

  • Use tools and technologies, including Python and AI-assisted development tools, to support automation and improve development efficiency

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to support continuous improvement of applications and processes

Required Qualifications:

6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 6+ months of experience building or working with applications, including coding with Java (preferred) and/or Python, understanding APIs and basic front-end tools, and testing/debugging code

  • 6+ months of experience working with data, including reviewing datasets and helping organize or integrate data within applications

  • 6+ months of experience or exposure to Generative AI or AI-assisted tools, including building or supporting chatbots, writing prompts, or using tools such as LangChain, LangGraph or similar frameworks

  • 6+ months of experience working in Agile team environments, including participating in team ceremonies, using Jira, and supporting testing, debugging, or release activities

  • 6+ months of exposure to cloud or modern development environments, including understanding how applications are deployed or run using cloud platforms or container-based tools

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools such as Excel and Word, managing email and calendars in Outlook, and building presentations in PowerPoint.

  • Experience communicating technical issues or access-related concerns across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in academic or professional settings.

  • Bachelor’s in computer science or related field preferred but not required.

Job Expectations:

  • The selected candidate for this role must be able to begin employment by July 12, 2026, in a full‑time capacity.

  • This position is required to work from the designated posted office location and must be able to meet all expectations of the current hybrid work schedule, including regular in‑office attendance as defined by the team and program requirements.

  • Actively engage in the two-year CODE Program, including participation in training, mentorship, networking events, and career development activities.

  • Relocation assistance is not provided for this role.

  • This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.
