Vice President, SPG Business Manager Mortgage Finance Group

The Chief Operating Office (COO) supports the business by delivering platforms, processes and systems across a wide range of disciplines. This includes LOB business management, business solutions & enablement, client lifecycle management, data management, strategy & transformation, and innovation.

Wells Fargo is seeking an SPG Banking COO VP to support Structured Products Group (SPG) Mortgage Finance Group (MFG). This role is responsible for driving the operational and strategic execution agenda across MFG, partnering closely with Originators, Structurers, Portfolio Management,  Risk, Finance, Operations, and Technology to enable efficient, controlled, and scalable business growth. In this role, you will:

  • Lead cross-functional initiatives supporting MFG, including regulatory, risk, infrastructure, and business growth priorities
  • Act as a key COO partner to SPG MFG leadership, driving execution on strategic priorities and control initiatives
  • Operate with a high degree of accountability, ownership, and urgency across multiple concurrent priorities
  • Build strong relationships across Banking, Risk, Finance, and Technology to enable coordinated delivery
  • Contribute to a culture of strong governance, risk discipline, and continuous process improvement
  • Drive end-to-end business execution across banking activities, including governance, controls, and operational readiness for new products and platform changes
  • Identify and mitigate operational and control risks, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and internal policies  
  • Drive prioritization, resource alignment, and execution discipline across initiatives impacting banking
  • Develop and implement efficiency initiatives to streamline workflows, enhance scalability, and reduce operational friction across desks
  • Perform detailed analysis and synthesize insights on business performance, risk trends, and operational efficiency to inform leadership decision-making
  • Lead issue identification, escalation, and remediation efforts, including audit and regulatory deliverables across MFG
  • Influence and coordinate across senior stakeholders, facilitating decision-making and alignment on complex, cross-functional topics
  • Provide guidance and oversight to central team members and contribute to building a strong COO / Business Management function supporting SPG

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Business Execution, Implementation, or Strategic Planning experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with Structured Products (e.g., MFG, ABS, CDF)
  • Mortgage Finance structured products experience preferred
  • Experience acting as a partner, overseeing business governance, operating cadence, and execution tracking for structured products platform
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end banking lifecycle, including booking, funding, credit analysis, portfolio monitoring and surveillance  
  • Familiarity with regulatory and control frameworks impacting Banking and Markets businesses  
  • Experience influencing and aligned senior stakeholders across front office, risk, finance, and technology on complex, cross-functional initiatives
  • Experience driving prioritization and resource alignment across concurrent initiatives, ensuring disciplined execution in a fast-paced markets environment
  • Proven ability to lead complex cross-functional initiatives and operate effectively in a fast-paced trading environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and executive communication skills

Job Expectations:

  • This position is subject to FINRA background screening requirements. Candidates must successfully complete and pass a background check prior to hire. Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$119,000.00 - $224,000.00
