About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Database Engineer.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex, cross-functional database engineering initiatives involving architecture, design, and integration.
  • Provide expert-level guidance on Oracle database performance tuning.
  • Design, implement, and troubleshoot Oracle Goldengate configurations for high availability and real-time data replication.
  • Collaborate with application teams to optimize SQL queries and advise on performance improvements.
  • Drive root cause analysis and resolution of high-severity, no-call production issues for mission-critical applications.
  • Partner with platform and application teams on release management and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts using Shell scripting to streamline database operations.
  • Monitor database health and ensure compliance with SLAs and performance benchmarks.
  • Contribute to the evaluation, testing, and optimization of database jobs and batch processes.
  • Provide strategic input into the future direction of database technologies and enterprise architecture.
  • Offer mentorship and technical leadership to junior engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Primary DBA responsibilities for the set of applications in the line of business.
  • Single point of Database technical contact for the channel of business he /she leads for.
  • Fine tune the database and the application batch program in collaboration with application teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Database Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Database Engineering, with a strong focus on Oracle databases.
  • Proven expertise in Oracle Goldengate setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Deep experience in Oracle performance tuning, including diagnostics, AWR/ASH analysis, and SQL tuning.
  • Strong Shell scripting skills and experience in automation of database tasks.
  • Experience in managing and supporting high-availability, large-scale database environments.
  • Solid understanding of database monitoring tools and SLA management.
  • Experience in consulting roles with application teams for performance tuning and architecture reviews.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines in database environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based database solutions and hybrid architectures.
  • Knowledge and hands-on on other RDBMS platforms like Postgresql, Yugabtye will be an added advantage.


Job Expectations:

  • Should be flexible with timings and weekends support, and able to lead the team & guide them technically.
  • Self-driven and contribute with initiatives & Process improvement
  • 3 days' Work from Office.
